Conducted 2nd cleft lip and palate clinic and operating session ( 14th, 15th and 16th of August) at Teaching Hospital Jaffna, with patronage of Dr Brian Sommerlad ( Consultant Plastic Surgeon, UK).

We really appreciate support and care rendered by Dr Brian Sommerlad (Consultant Plastic Surgeon), Dr P Sathiyakumar (Consultant Orthodontist), Dr Janaki Arulmoli (Head, Department of Anaesthesia, THJ) , Dr N Sooriyakumar (Consultant Anaesthetist ) and theatre staff in JICA operating theatre.

Conducted three day plastic surgical session to reconstruct microtia (significant ear deformity). We like to thank Dr. John Vandervord (Head, Plastic Surgery Unit, Royal North Shore Hospital, Australia), Dr. Chandini Perera ( Head, Burns Unit, NHSL), Dr Elle Vandervord (Plastic Surgery Registrar, Australia) for their immense support. Conducted a 'Basic Hand Trauma Workshop' in collaboration with Department of Anatomy, Faculty of medicine, University of Jaffna. We appreciate invaluable contribution of Prof Vincent Hentz (USA), Dr Dammika Dissanayake (NHSL), Dr Yasas Abeywickrama (Colombo South Teaching Hospital) and Dr Sathis Wijemanne (Karapitiya Teaching Hospital). We wish to convey special thank to Dr T. Chenthuran (Head, Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna) for his guidance.

We conduct a cleft lip and palate surgical session in Teaching Hospital Jaffna on 15th and 16th of August. It is nice to declare that we initiated videofluroscopy to assess the status of repaired cleft palate with the support of radiology department. Plastic Surgery Unit of TH Jaffna really appreciated the patronage of Dr. Brian Sommerlad ( Consultant plastic surgeon, U.K.), Dr. Romesh Gunasekara (Consultant plastic surgeon, Lady Ridgeway Hospital, Ms Malka Jayathilake ( Speech and language therapist, Lady Ridgeway Hospital) and nursing officers of JICA theatre.

Miss Vijitha Arunthawarasa and Mr Selvarajah Koneswaran ( nursing officers from THJ) completed two weeks burn care program at Burns and Plastic Reconstructive Unit, NHSL. We thank Dr Chandini Perera ( consultant plastic surgeon) and her team for their invaluable effort in teaching and Mr Hasitha Ahangama ( Head, Medical devices and diagnostics, CIC) for financial support.
