Sanitary napkins can play a major role in upholding a menstruators well-being. Resorting to cloth due to the financial constraints severely affects one’s menstrual hygiene and it is the focus of Adithi by Arka to remove those constraints, enabling all menstruators to bleed with dignity.

Despite a female majority, more than 4.5 million menstruators find it difficult to access menstrual hygiene products due to the expense. 20% of Sri Lankan households earn approximately Rs. 14,000 every month and would need to spend 3.5% of this monthly income on sanitary napkins for one menstruator. Most families find this difficult, forcing menstruators to use unhygienic methods of sanitation or forego using any method at all.

This is period poverty.
