This is my experience in working with a resident from the United Kingdom
I am currently caring for a man from the United Kingdom who was formerly a resident at a residential home in the UK who I met when I worked in that home. When I met Mr Hill he was suffering from a number of serious medical conditions he was morbidly obese (200kg). he was an insulin dependent(68 units) per day and a chronic diabetic and he suffered from a leg ulcer which was quite serious. He also took a cocktail of drugs for conditions including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, water retention, enlarged heart and diabetes(6 metformin tablet per day). He also suffered from Sleep Apnoea. Because of this I invited him to Sri Lanka for a three month holiday. During this time I used my skills and knowledge to care for him. On his arrival I took him to see a professor in medicine who specialises in diabetes, his treatment did not seem to help Mr Hill's ailments and so I decided to use my expertise to treat him myself with his consent. My first priority was to reduce his blood sugar level by introducing him to a healthy nutritious diet devised by myself. Over a period of time I achieved this with regular blood sugar level tests, to begin with tree times a day and then reducing it to two times a day. I recorded all observations and figures daily I could then monitor him efficiently. This was a long process but by trying out various different foods I learned which helped to reduce the level and altered his diet accordingly. During this period I also daily treated his ulcer by bathing and dressing the wound for almost the whole three months that he was here. But by the time he returned to England I had completely cured his ulcer and reduced his weight to 170kgs. On his return, for the next six months I spoke to him daily on Skype and continued to advise and monitor his various conditions. Due to my advice he continued the healthy diet as much as he was able. His figures continued to improve and I advised him to gradually reduce his units of insulin by two units per fortnight. When he visited his doctor he was amazed by the transformation in him and he was also very impressed by the fact that I had removed his ulcer and body weight. When Mr Hill suggested that he was going back to Sri Lanka the doctor said that this was a good idea. After the six month Mr Hill returned to Sri Lanka for a further six months holiday. By this time he was no longer taking insulin and had further reduced his body weight. In the early part of this period I also advised him to reduce and eventually stop his metformin completely and by daily monitoring I also advised him to reduce and stop his other medication. During this period he lost further weight by my continuing healthy diet and I introduced and escorted him on a daily 2km walk around the local area. After the initial visit to the consultant I had no further need to take him to see any medical experts in Sri Lanka. By the time he once again returned to England his body weight was reduced to 130kgs. For the next three months daily we kept in contact by Skype and I continued to monitor his health, and my family and i Invited him to live in Sri Lanka with us on a permanent basis. In 2013 he returned to Sri Lanka on a resident visa and has lived with us since them. Now his health mentally and physically has greatly improved. His body weight is now about 100kgs. When I first met him he was feeling very low and depressed and on anti-depressants. He felt very low due to his lack of mobility and self-worth. I managed to improve his mental condition by helping him to regain his confidence and improve his self-esteem. He is no longer on the anti-depressants. He by his own volition decided to post the following article on his personal Facebook and I have his permission to send it to you. Ananda’s Expertise. In a previous post I stated that my improved state of health was mainly due to the medical intervention of Ananda Weeratunga Arachchige. Since I first went to Sri Lanka in December 2011 he has treated my various ailments (insulin dependent diabetes, recurrent leg ulcer, cellulitis, high blood pressure, high blood sugar level, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, enlarged heart and morbid obesity) through varied treatment, medication and change of diet. When I first arrived in S.L. I weighed 200 kg’s. Now I weigh 98 kilos. I am no longer using insulin and am managing my diabetes through diet alone. I am also off all of my medication, at one time I was on 14 tablets a day. I could not have managed any of this without his health and guidance. Without being too dramatic I honestly feel that without his intervention I would probably have died by now. In 2011 he gained an N.V.Q. level 3 in Health and Social Care and worked in the United Kingdom for 2 years and six months and attained wide experience in working with adults with various physical and mental disabilities. He has also treated his own family through various ailments. He is currently working as a qualified pharmacy dispenser at a Government hospital. He has used his experience, skills and knowledge that he has acquired, on myself to change my bad health circumstances and I feel that this expertise should be made available to a wider audience. I recommend anyone who is suffering from any illness to contact him on ananda.1972@yahoo.co.uk He is willing to offer advice and treatment with a view to helping that person in the same way that he has helped me. If anybody in any country (particularly U.K., Australia, Canada and New Zealand) wish to sponsor him he is more than willing to travel to that country to help them. Jeremy David HILL
