🌿 Avoid These Incompatible Food Combinations 🌿

In Ayurveda, certain food combinations can disrupt digestion and lead to health issues. Here are some pairs to avoid:

1. Fruit & Dairy 🍓🥛: Combining fruits with milk or yogurt can create toxins and hinder digestion.
2. Honey & Hot Water 🍯💧: Heating honey can make it toxic, so always use it with lukewarm water.
3. Melons & Anything Else 🍈🚫: Eat melons alone, as they digest quickly and can ferment in the stomach when mixed with other foods.
4. Milk & Fish 🐟🥛: This combination is considered incompatible and can create imbalances.
5. Starch & Protein 🍞🥩: Combining foods like bread and meat can be hard on the digestive system.

Eating the right combinations can enhance digestion and promote better health. Embrace Ayurveda’s wisdom for a balanced, harmonious diet! 🌸✨

🌞 Beat the Summer Heat with Ayurveda! 🌿

Summer can be challenging with its intense heat, but Ayurveda offers simple and effective ways to stay cool and balanced. Here are some tips to help you enjoy the summer season:

1. Hydrate with Cooling Drinks 🥤: Sip on coconut water, fresh mint lemonade (Nimbu Pani - recipe below), or herbal teas like fennel and coriander. These drinks not only hydrate but also cool down your body.
2. Favour Cooling Foods 🍉: Incorporate juicy fruits like watermelon, cucumber and sweet lime. Leafy greens and light grains like barley and rice are also great for keeping cool.
3. Avoid Spicy & Fried Foods 🌶️: These can increase your body heat. Instead, opt for fresh, mildly spiced, and light meals.
4. Wear Light & Breathable Fabrics 👗: Choose cotton and linen clothes in light colours to keep your body temperature down.
5. Use Cooling Oils & Sprays 🌸: Apply aloe vera gel or rose water to your skin for a refreshing and cooling effect. Essential oils like sandalwood and jasmine are also soothing.
6. Stay Indoors During Peak Hours ⏰: Avoid direct sunlight between 12 AM and 3 PM. If you must go out, wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. Remember, it’s also important to catch some daily rays of sunshine for a natural boost of vitamin D, avoiding the peak hours.
7. Practice Pranayama & Gentle Yoga 🧘‍♂️: Cooling breathing techniques like Sheetali and gentle yoga poses can help regulate your body temperature.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and embrace the summer with Ayurveda! 🌞✨🌿

🌿 Mucuna Pruriens: Natural Support for Parkinson’s 🌿

Mucuna pruriens, also known as Kapikacchu or velvet bean, is an Ayurvedic herb with so many benefits, and it is especially helpful in the management of Parkinson’s disease symptoms. It naturally contains levodopa (L-DOPA), a precursor to dopamine, which is often deficient in Parkinson’s patients. By boosting dopamine levels, Mucuna pruriens can improve motor skills, reduce tremors, and enhance overall quality of life. Embrace the power of Ayurveda for holistic support in managing Parkinson’s. 🌸✨

Please seek the guidance of an Ayurvedic Practitioner for further information.

🌿The Bilva tree, also known as bael or Aegle marmelos, has many wonderful medicinal benefits and is used as an ingredient in many Ayurvedic formulations.

The fruit is well known for its digestive properties, helping to alleviate digestive issues such as constipation, indigestion and diarrhoea. Immature dried Bilva is excellent for chronic irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrhoea, dysentery and malabsorption (where there are ‘mucusy’ and watery stools).

It has great healing qualities where there may be ulceration and inflammation of the mucous membranes in the intestines: ulcers, colitis and Crohn’s disease (Yadav et al 1989).

‭The ‭ripe fruit of the plant helps in curing constipation and the fresh juice is more of a laxative used in the summer to cool the system.

The leaves have anti-inflammatory and anthelmintic properties, which can be used in a poultice to help reduce inflammation and fever.

Bilva helps to regulate blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition.

Its antimicrobial and cooling properties contribute to improving skin health, helping to alleviate skin conditions and promote a clear complexion.

Bilva fruit supports cardiovascular health by promoting healthy cholesterol levels and improving blood circulation.

🌿Properties of Bilva:

Taste (Rasa): Astringent, bitter
Potency (Virya): hot
Post digestive taste (Vipaka): pungent
Quality (Guna): dry, light
Effect (Dosa): VK-, P+ in excess
Tissue (Dhatu): Plasma, blood, nerves, semen
Channel (Srotas): Digestive, eliminatory, circulatory, nervous, reproductive

🌿Ayurvedic Action:
Dipana: Increases the digestive fire
Pachana: Digests toxins
Atisaraghna: Alleviates diarrhoea
Purisasamgrahaniya: Binds stools
Sothahara : Removes swellings
Sulaghna: Alleviates colic
Vatakaphahara: Alleviates vata and kapha

Dosage: 1-12g per day dried fruit powder or 50-100ml of the fresh fruit juice. 5-25ml per day of a 1:3 @ 25% tincture.

🌿Being with nature has great healing properties. As humans, we have evolved in nature. It’s where we feel most comfortable. It has been scientifically proven that when we spend time in nature, our brain behaves differently. It affects how we feel and think, which has a direct impact on our immunity and healing powers. Remember to take time out and make time for yourself.

In nature’s embrace, troubles unwind,
Beneath the canopy, peace you find.
Amongst the trees, your spirit’s flight,
Breathing in air, pure and bright.

Sunlight dances on leaves so green,
A healing touch, a tranquil scene.
Birdsong whispers, rivers flow,
Nature’s symphony, a soothing flow.

With every step, stress melts away,
In nature’s arms, you find your way.
Mind and body, refreshed and whole,
Nature’s medicine, to heal the soul. ☀️
