Established for over 50 years, the Prithipura Communities of Sri Lanka is an organisation dedicated to the care and assistance of children with disabilities. Our philosophy is to provide a loving and caring environment, which will allow the best possible avenues for the children's growth and development. The people who live with us are mostly infants, children and young adults, although some of our residents are in their fifties too. Those who arrive here as children have often been abandoned by their parents and consequently have very little hope of returning to society after rehabilitation, education and training. The care and education we provide, as well as the internal job opportunities that we have created at our four different branches, offer the children the possibility of growing in a healthy and loving atmosphere, developing their skills and engaging in meaningful work. Our organisation consists of fours centres located in various part of Sri Lanka, where a number of about 250 children and adults live and are cared for. We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation registered as a charity in Sri Lanka, catering to people regardless of race, religion or financial means. We rely on donors and sponsors and expect no payment from those who use our services or their families.

Cleanup at Asokapura Farm 🌿
Our team is clearing the road from the farm to Cotagala School — a big job, but everyone is safe and well. 💚
Some buildings will need major repairs, but we won’t be fundraising for this yet, as costs aren’t clear and we don’t want to take away from disaster relief for those still without homes or food.
We welcome donations for our essential 2026 costs — among many things, this supports our multitasking team clearing the road! 🙏

Prithipura Communities has weathered the storm.
Everyone is safe and well, though Asokapura Farm has been hit hard, with damage to several buildings and road access affected. Today, the sun is shining again over Cotagala School and Asokapura Farm — brighter days ahead!

Calling all UK-based Prithipura community friends and supporters!
Prithi UK , a UK-registered charity supporting Prithipura Communities, is organising an afternoon of Sri Lankan food, music, games, prizes, and community fun — all to support Prithipura Communities.
Everyone at the Infants Home helped bring the Poson spirit to life — with colourful decorations and even a handmade elephant!
Poson celebrates the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, and having our very own Perahera right here at Prithipura made it even more special. A beautiful mix of tradition, creativity, and community coming together.
