SRHR Masterclass Cohort IV – Class-Led Educational Community Workshop

On December 3, 2025, the vibrant and passionate participants of SRHR Masterclass Cohort IV took charge in organizing a community-centered workshop in Floko’s Town, Marshall. This empowering session aimed to equip residents—especially adolescents—with critical knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

Key topics discussed included:
🔹 Teenage Pregnancy: Understanding the causes, consequences, and prevention strategies. Together, the community emphasized the importance of education, awareness, and support systems to help young people make informed choices.

🔹 HIV/AIDS & Sexual Health: Providing clear, accessible information on prevention, testing, treatment, and stigma reduction. Youth were encouraged to protect themselves and their communities through safe sexual practices.

🔹 Mental Health Awareness: Highlighting the connection between mental health and overall well-being. The workshop fostered open communication and encouraged seeking help when needed.

This workshop wasn't just a learning opportunity—it was a movement of empowerment, sparking open conversations and ensuring that health, rights, and well-being remain at the heart of community development. 💪

We’re excited to wrap up this chapter tomorrow at the SRHR Masterclass Cohort IV Closing Program, which will be held at the Liberian Learning Center, Paynesville. It’s going to be a celebration of achievements, growth, and the bright futures ahead for these young leaders!

Huge thanks to Cohort IV for taking the lead and bringing about change in their community! 🌱

Day 2 has started with high energy!

Today’s focus is healthy nutrition for mothers and understanding common health issues in babies.
Participants are reviewing the basics of nutrition and discussing how to support women so they can eat well during pregnancy and breastfeeding – even when resources are limited.

What a balanced plate looks like for adolescent girls and mothers.

How everyday food choices affect energy, immunity, and recovery after childbirth.

It was also great to have Dr. Bedee Duworko Gbozee, the Director of Nutrition Division at the Ministry of Health present to share the ministry’s new direction for nutrition in Liberia

Highlights from our nutrition training sessions - Day 1

This morning’s sessions focused on the special nutrition needs of adolescent girls, pregnant women, and young mothers.
Using real stories from communities, participants are exploring how food taboos, poverty, and heavy workloads affect what girls and mothers eat.
We’re also discussing why so many young mothers face anemia and complications during pregnancy – and how simple nutrition changes can save lives.
