Intergenerational collaboration unites and improves our communities. Intergenerational approaches have a positive relationship to economic growth and value creation. Discrimination, in any form, limits a person's potential to contribute to the development of their community. Target
Youth aged 10-30 years who are vulnerable to exploitation and consequently to HIV/AIDS specifically:
• Children commercially sexually exploited, victims of trafficking and other worst forms of Child Labour
• Slum youth
• Street children
• Youth from poor families
Liberian Youth Initiatives is a non-profit making Organization that was founded by a group of professionals in October, 2012. It is fully registered at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Liberia and recognized by the Ministry of planning and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Republic of Liberia. LYI seeks to focus its programs in the areas of:
Street children
Youth from poor families
To engage in activities geared towards prevention and reduction of drug abuse, child abuse
STDs/HIV/AIDS and promotion of reproductive health of young people. To engage in research initiatives, collect and disseminate information pertinent to issues that affect children. To campaign against child sexual abuse and all forms of exploitation among hard- to-reach young people. To equip disadvantaged young people with life planning skills as well as livelihood vocational skills. Phase one (1) of these above programmes will be focus within the Brewerville city, Monrovia, Liberia. The programmes will target young people aged between 10-30 years as primary beneficiaries as well as parents, local leaders, teachers and other community members as key stakeholders in creating a safe and supportive environment for young people.
