Workshop Highlight: Pharmacovigilance & Surveillance 🏥💊
Today, our team hosted an important workshop focusing on Pharmacovigilance and Surveillance — an essential process to ensure medicines remain safe for our patients.
Purpose:
✅Detect side effects (Adverse Drug Reactions – ADRs) that may not have been identified during clinical trials.
✅Continuously monitor the safety of medicines throughout their entire lifecycle.
✅Protect patients from harm and promote safe medication use.
Key Activities:
✅Reporting – Gathering ADR reports from healthcare professionals, patients, and manufacturers.
✅Signal Detection – Identifying patterns or “signals” that could indicate safety concerns.
✅Risk Assessment – Evaluating if a medicine’s risks outweigh its benefits.
✅Risk Minimization – Updating guidelines, revising labels, or, if necessary, withdrawing unsafe medicines.
We were honored to have among the participants: the Social Cluster Committee of Likila Community Council, Ha Seboche Chief, Police Representative, Traditional Healers Representative, and VHW Representative.
By strengthening our pharmacovigilance practices, we remain committed to improving patient safety and the quality of healthcare in our community 🤍
