Your body is working harder than you think even when you can’t feel it yet. 🤍

Pilates builds strength without pushing you into survival mode.
It lowers stress at the source and quietly regulates the nervous system that controls everything else: your sleep, your mood, your posture, your consistency.

The results aren’t always loud, but they’re real. And they compound.

Save this if you needed a reminder that showing up matters even on the days it doesn’t feel like enough.

Bodies Have Seasons
Caption updated: Your body isn’t broken. It’s just in a different season. 🌿

Pre-baby. Post-baby. Post-injury. Post-burnout.
Mid-career. Mid-life.

You’re not declining.
You’re carrying more more responsibility, more pressure, more life.

And yet, I see women apologising for where they are.
For lifting less. For needing more rest.
For not being who they once were.

Pilates at Essence meets you exactly where you are right now.
No judgment. No comparison.
Just intentional movement that supports the season you’re actually in.

What season are you in right now?

Muscle shaking during Pilates is something I get asked about a lot.
In most cases, it isn’t a sign of muscle weakness or poor technique. Instead, it reflects neuromuscular fatigue - meaning
the nervous system is working hard to control the movement.
Pilates emphasises slow, controlled contractions and sustained positions. This requires the nervous system to precisely regulate motor unit recruitment, timing, and contraction speed, particularly in deep stabilising muscles.
As the nervous system begins to fatigue, these signals become less consistent. The result is visible shaking, even
though the muscle itself may still be capable of producing force.
This response is normal and very common during control-based exercise. It’s also one of the reasons Pilates is so
effective - it improves how the nervous system coordinates and controls movement, not just muscle strength.
That shaking is part of the process - so don’t worry it usually means the exercise is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.

Breathing in Pilates is not something you force.
It’s something you observe.
That’s why sometimes the only cue I give is breath.
Not to make the exercise harder but to help the body organise itself.
In the next reel, you’ll see me training my husband.
Notice how little I say.
That’s intentional. And I will explain why.
Pilates is a system.
Not a performance.

Most Pilates studios in Luxembourg offer the Reformer. That is one machine.
Classical Pilates was designed as a system: Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel, Wall Unit, and more.
Each piece serves a different purpose. Together, they address the whole body in ways a single machine cannot.
At Essence Pilates, you have access to the full system guided by an instructor trained in the classical method.
Not a trend. Not a shortcut. The method as it was designed.
Intro Pack available.

Angela came to Essence Pilates after spinal surgery. Uncertain. Cautious. In pain.
Today, she moves with strength and confidence.
This is what guided, consistent Pilates practice can do especially when the body has been
through trauma.
Not quick fixes. Not shortcuts.
Just careful progression. Individual attention. A method that meets the body where it is and builds from there.
Recovery is not linear. But with the right support, it is possible.
Essence Pilates. Small groups. Classical method. All levels — including post-rehab.

Flow, control, and strength in every move.

From the precision of the hip twist to the fluidity of swimming, every transition challenges balance, coordination, and core stability. The leg pull and kneeling kicks build strength, while the side bend and boomerang bring control and elegance into motion. Seal & crab, rocking, and control balance push your body awareness even further… and we finish strong with the ultimate push-up.

Pilates isn’t just movement , it’s mastery.✨

Sitting is not neutral. It creates pattern.
Forward head. Rounded shoulders. Tight hip flexors. Weak glutes. Lower back compression.
Pilates does not just stretch what is tight. It retrains the patterns that created the tightness in the first place.
Spinal extension. Hip mobility. Shoulder stabilization. Core activation.
This is not about undoing one day of sitting. It is about building a body that can handle it long-term.

Slow exercises often feel harder than faster ones, even when the load is low.
A key reason for this is time under tension - the length of time a muscle is actively producing force during a movement.
When movement speed is reduced, muscles are required to remain active for longer periods with very little opportunity
for relaxation. This increases motor unit recruitment and places greater metabolic demand on the muscle.
At the same time, the nervous system must continuously regulate timing, coordination, and contraction speed, which
contributes to neuromuscular fatigue.
This effect is particularly noticeable in stabilising muscles, which are designed for endurance and control rather than
rapid force production.
Slower, controlled movement is therefore not about making exercises “easier”
- it’s a deliberate way to improve
muscular endurance, neuromuscular control, and movement quality.
Slower movement increases control by increasing demand on both muscle and nervous system - making it central to
Pilates-based training.
