Why I took the much needed IG detox ?

I was unconsciously getting trapped in the social media matrix. Affecting my mood, time and perspective.

Why am I telling you this ?

May be as reminder to self and you that we all are humans and we need real connections. And we must learn to manage the digital jungle.

Ofcourse I will create content which resonates with me and which is realistic. BUT not as a priority since mental health and psychology is too complex and nuanced to be compressed in this space.
I will take regular monthly time away from here.

I do not crave numbers rather goodwill, which happens only in the sacred space of my therapy room

Men’s mental health is a silent crisis, often hidden behind stoic faces and unspoken struggles. While nearly 1 in 5 men experience a mental illness each year, less than half seek help—many never speak about it at all. This isn’t just about clinical disorders; it’s about the daily pressures—work, finances, relationships—that can quietly erode mental peace when faced alone.

Men are almost four times more likely to die by su1cide than women, and millions silently battle depression, anxiety, or overwhelming stress every year

It is about giving space to men to speak, because sometimes just speaking is enough to make up feel better and less lonely.

Human struggles do not have a gender !
As a psychologist & therapist, I see firsthand how many men feel pressured to hide their emotions, believing they have to be “strong” and handle everything alone. But true strength lies in vulnerability and reaching out for support. I’ve witnessed incredible transformations when men allow themselves to speak openly about their mental health—it’s not a sign of weakness, but of courage.

Just like anyone else, men also need support, that works for them.

If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. Men’s mental health matters, and seeking help is a powerful step toward healing. Let’s break the stigma together and create a space where every man feels safe to share his story and ask for support.

Last 24hrs there has been just grim news !
From the Air India Crash to Iran att@ck.

All this will evoke mixed emotions in many. These events impact air travel, which will impact people who not just travel for leisure but to meet families, to reconnect, to be home !

As an expat myself, having safe air space and airlines is crucial to go meet my family and for my family to visit me. Those limited trips back home arw treasured and looked forward to.
When there is a threat for safety, accessibility gets compromised.

If you are someone who is feeling mixed emotions, pause and dial down your social media consumption in the current scenario.

Know that this will pass.

Social media can be a strange place. One moment, you can see a reel that evokes grief and the other a recipe being shared or someone's luxury vacation.

Personally, I am consciously choosing not to share much around the ongoing news. Not to show insensitivity but to contain routines and emotions.

Adolescence on Netflix!

Well I think many have already seen it and given their 2 cents. I finished watching this yesterday and here are my thoughts

1. Brilliant series, fantastic acting and cinematography. The one shot episodes are too good. Hats off to the entire team. Creativity and technology at its best.
2. The theme- its a tough theme. It can be triggering for many and create anxiety among parents, especially teen parents.
3. The issues shown are so REAL. As a psychologist I have personally seen and worked with young adults and its one the most challenging work I have done. From social media pressure, peer pressure, identify pressure, academic pressure...bonus is hormones and physical changes...everything bundles in a teen. Not just makes ot tough for parents but also schools, teachers and psychologists to navigate the challenge.
4. Teen Parent emotions and mental wellbeing is never touched upon in our society. Default blame is put on them. Parents are majorly responsible for upbringing and safety and so the ecosystem !
5. Teaching about emotions, se*ual health and consent is unfortunately not given importance. Its a one class tick off in many schools.

If you are a parent, help your teen and young adult learn all about emotions! Start with yourself !

Being at home all the time does not mean a young person is safe. There is a whole world out there on the internet ready to create psychologically unsafe spaces.

Is there anything as too much therapy ?
How do you know that your therapy sessions are doing more harm than good?

Here are some tell tale signs one should observe in self and in the session.
🚨If therapy is making you feel isolated, pushing you to ONLY think about yourself, then its time to pause and change.

đź’™Therapy is a space for reflection and to question. Which means, you have the full right to question your therapist, you do not need to blindly agree to everything.

đź’™Therapy should also show you a mirror for your own self, rather than make you wear a victim hat

đź’™ Unless you you are not able to function in day to day life, there may not be a need to have a clinical label of a disorder. Pathologizing normal human experiences and challenges can do more harm, rather than build resilience
