Ever heard any of these pop into your brain?

‘I just need to work harder’
‘I need to be more motivated‘
‘I just need to cut out crisp/choc/wine‘
‘This month, I am going to be so good‘
‘Maybe I just don’t want it enough‘

Let them go, just let those thoughts no longer be part of your psyche.

Instead, ladies, repeat after me

‘My goals are easy‘
‘Motivation is a choice‘
‘It’s possible to to enjoy all foods and be skinny‘
‘There is no good/bad foods‘
‘I am worthy of my goals.‘

Most people wait until they are super miserable before they decide to change, often called HELL ISLAND. I mean come on!!!

Don’t wait, seriously, don’t wait. Show self love and make changes the SECOND you recognise anything less than fulfillment or happiness.

There is nothing YOU CANNOT DO, if you choose action.

But keep on waiting and waiting and nothing good happens in that time. Other than more of the same.

And this applies to anything, career, money, family. Rise up and be the BEST VERSION of you.

The world requires you to thrive.

Do you take your vitamins? And not in the way you might think!

This week, I've been in awe of our new clients who are in a place of ‘self-optimisation’.

They’ve got some comfort eating, motivation and willpower issues, but they recognise they are in control of changing them. They understand the value of seeking an expert to help resolve these issues.

They’ve maybe done a couple stints of fasting or WW but know that's not their solution.

They are taking their vitamins. Because they are future proofing themselves so these habits don’t get any worse.

They’re not at rock bottom, they have belief that they can make changes.

They understand that they have to do the work, and they’re happy to request the services of an expert to get their results in the quickest, safest way.

And they are less likely to suffer self sabotage because they are more accepting of change.

Compare this to others that might only seek help when they’ve hit super low esteem or have tried everything, sometimes twice over!

Where they’ve lost all self belief and confidence and frequently self sabotage or fall victim to the ‘I can’t….’ mindset. It’s never the right time or there’s always something standing in their way.

Obviously we do work with ladies like this too, but ideally they should have got help years ago.

These ladies are waiting till they have to take the medicine, and then it’s so much harder.

It’s a subtle difference, so your task today is simple.

Self-care doesn't need to be meditations, yoga, or journaling. I am not a spiritual coach, or guru and you’ll never hear me ommmmmm.

However, as a health and wellness coach primarily for women 40+, I know how important proper self-care is.

I mean proper self-care.

Self care doesn’t mean lying in bed with a family-sized bar of Galaxy.

Or sagging into the sofa with a bottle of Merlot every couple of nights.

The whole point of self-care is giving your body and mind love.

Something that will benefit you and help you be better. To feel better.

When you love someone and you see them struggling, do you enable them in self-pity or do you empathize and help them constructively?

I would hope for the latter.

The same applies for us.

Energy, motivation, health, weight, confidence, esteem can all benefit from PROPER self-care

I see so many women use self-care as the reason they don’t get off the sofa in the evening.

Everyone knows they should move more, exercise is the proper self-care. And that will alleviate the lack of energy in the long run.

Everyone knows that eating more spinach and less Shiraz is going to help us age healthier and live longer.

Yet guzzling wine because ‘it’s been a rough’ week pattern is not self care.

Imagine how much of a hypocrite I would be if I suggested that we all give up drinking!?

I would never do that, but I urge pattern recognition.

If we are not helping ourselves be better, be healthier and happier, no one will.

Self-care is not to be confused with comfort.

Comfort is that immediate dopamine hit, but not a long term solution.

Here's some non-woowoo ideas for proper self-care:

reading, walking, exercising, using one of those spiky mat things, skincare, switching off the TV, switching off social media, recognising sights, sounds and smells, jigsaw, crafting, organizing.

PS- sitting on the sofa guzzling the wine and Galaxy, can work from time to time (not every weekend).

How a mid life crisis might be the best thing to ever happen!

9 years ago I had an epiphany. After losing a s**t ton of weight I saw how much happier I had become, free-er, more in control in different areas of my life.

I felt ‘seen’ and powerful again. What an eye opener, I hadn’t realised how much I had been hiding away.

The fact that others felt the same started a series of decisions that resulted in me leaving the 9-5 and starting my own coaching biz!

There was maybe an element of mid life crisis, on the cusp of turning 40!

It’s been a rollercoaster, but ultimately I believe a healthier, happier world begins with healthy, happy people so that’s why I help perimenopausal women transform from stuck in a rut and invisible to powerful and proud through easy and fun body and confidence transformation courses.

But there’s a perception out there that it’s ‘just’ weight loss.

It’s not. It can be

💪Marriage saving
💪Health improving
💪Promotion making
💪Esteem building
💪Self development

And so its important to focus on the whole person, not just the body. It’s important to look at environmental factors & family circumstances too.

Life is so short, it’s a shame not to maximise every opportunity we get, if you see an opportunity take it.

If you want to make changes take action, you will be rewarded. If you can help others so something better. Do it

‘I’m such a failure’

Ever hear the opposite? where someone says…….

‘I’m such a success’

Not so common is it?

(unless you count the insta influencers with their Ferrari in Dubai where day rates for photos are the norm, don’t believe the hype)

Success and failure isn’t a checkbox. They are 2 extremes on a sliding scale.

We could be succeeding in so many ways, but if we perceive just 1 small area as a failure, it kicks us right in the va**na.

And we announce boldly to anyone……i’ve failed.

Think of your life as Higher/A level math.

You have 100 questions. 90 of those you answer correctly, 10 of which you make up some random equations. You’re gonna get 90%, that's an A.

Apply the same principles to 10 areas of your life.

1. Family
2. Body
3. Health
4. Relationship
5. Career
6. House
7. Holidays
8. Self development
9. Social/friends
10.Style/Clothes/Appearance

If there is only 1 that ranks low, then that's still 90% of the areas scoring high.
Most women here have careers they are passionate about, families they’re proud of, houses they like to live in, but will see only failure in a weight loss journey.

And when we start the negative self talk about 1 area, pretty soon that seeps into other areas. Like a rot. Because what we CHOOSE to focus on, becomes reality.

It’s time to flip the bird to that.

This is why I shout, scream and stamp my feet with the mantra: PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION.

And I get it, it's seems almost boring in comparison to:

♦︎ Cut out X and drop a stone in a day (keto)
♦︎ Replace food with this dust and you’ll be a size 8 by Tuesday
(Cambridge)
♦︎ Destroy your relationship with food and eat all you want pasta (Slimming
World)

We all want the solution NOW, we want to do all the actions NOW so we can get the results TOMORROW.

But that’s not how 40 or 50 year old bodies and minds work.

Making small changes in sequential order is what works.

Being held accountable is what works.

Having the right approach, personalised, is what works.

Knowing how to end the all or nothing mindset is what works.

So next time, that wee negative voice suggests that you’re a failure for not losing a stone IN A DAY.

Tell it to shut the f*** up and consider just how much of a success you truly are.

Shirley did, maybe not just wine but gained 2 stone over lockdown season!

Sound familiar? She was definitely not alone.

But like a few, she decided that didn’t want to stay stuck forever and was NOT going to be a ‘fuddy duddy’ for her big birthday

What a result though - 14 lbs, 18.5 inches, original goal was to get onto a 12, smashed that in size 10.

And how many can say, they are wearing their uni clothes? Or taking up new hobbies? And still enjoying wine and chocolate?

Definitely worth a watch, if Shirley can, nothing is stopping anyone else!

Being stuck in a rut doesn’t mean wallowing in misery, ain’t no-one got time for that.

Stuck in a rut can simply mean, just not feeling as fabulous as we know we can.

One of our clients said to me:

‘I don’t think I am right for you because I’ve not tried to lose weight before’

But, she’s the perfect client. Why? Because all our clients are perfect!

🤷 Low self esteem v’s high self esteem. IT DOESN’T MATTER

🤷 1 dress size v’s 3 dress sizes. IT DOESN’T MATTER

🤷 Tried to lose weight for 1 day v’s 5 years. IT DOESN’T MATTER.

What does matter is…….having a goal.

The process works. We know EXACTLY what to do with every single client to get results.

(And if a client doesn’t lose body fat when working with us, we’ll give them their money back)

Regardless of where you are, if you want it, change is probable.

More than probable.

And if you need proper help, well, that’s what we’re here for.

Celebrate your own success but also take the time to celebrate others' success.

I am celebrating the achievements of this lady below. We started working together in May 2020, ended in July 2020 and she took time out of her day to share her 1 year progress photos.

This stuff works.

We covered all 4 pillars (as we do with all out ladies) to ensure permanent success:

1️⃣ Mindset and identity- Our unique approach stops the all or nothing/yoyo dieting, focuses on progress not perfection. Stop being the person that is always ‘trying’ to lose weight. And actually just be the lean healthy person you want to be.
