Oily Hospitality Learning to make biblical hospitality come easy with the help of "Just Open the Door" by Jen Schmidt Biblical Hospitality and Young Living Oils

09/11/2021

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED THIS PAST WEEK:
1) Allow God to teach you the things you are trying to teach your child.
2) Make sure that you have enough margin in your day so that you can be the "Samaritan" instead of the "Priest"
3) Remember to be still through out the day to give God an opportunity to work in you and around you.
4)Only allow your past to mold you not define you.

I hope that what I have learned this week helps you this week. Spend some time with God and remember to not only talk to Him but to listen as well. I hope you all have an amazing week.

Yep, I did it. In the rain. That is how much this means to me.

Have you ever noticed how long a road seems when you walk it alone, but when you walk with someone you don’t even realized how far you have gone. That is life. If you try doing your journey on your own it will seem like it takes forever to get anywhere, but when you allow people to come along with you, you accomplish so much and go so far. I hope that you allow others to walk your journey with you so that you can accomplish what God has set before you with joy.

Yesterday I felt unprepared, inadequate, frazzled and a failure. Last night I sat down to reflect on how I could have done everything better. It is then that I realized God had it, along with me in His hands. He knows what will happen before we do because He goes before us. He has surrounded me with UNBELIEVABLE people. This morning I want to thank God for the people around me not for what they do for me or how much they support me but for who they are to me, FAMILY. Church Family is an amazing family. If you don’t have one you need to find yours. The amount of love, support, encouragement and ACCOUNTABILITY is priceless. If you do have one take a minute today to extend some hospitality should that be a phone call, letter, visit do something. Make today more about who God has surrounded you with.

Ok, I am the worlds worst at asking for help. I am a control freak and I don’t want to feel weak or incapable of doing something myself. Well this week I asked for help. I was able to get so much done AND was able to spend time with friends AND I was not a complete basket case to all around me. We often talk about hospitality being what we do for others but remember it is also what we ALLOW others to do for us as well. People are there wanting to spend time with you, help you and to share your load. You must first let them. Try it out this week and see what a difference it makes. God created us not be alone nor to do life alone. Have a great week! (Thank you to everyone that helped me this week😁)

Today I was able to actually go into the Sanctuary and worship. It was amazing! I thought that listening to services online was filling me up but I realized that was like a kitchen faucet but being actually within God’s house with my brothers and sisters was like a gushing waterfall BUT Doing it with my husband was like Niagara Falls. I encourage you that if you are able to go to church go. It is something that we should never take advantage of!

Testimony, is something I guard. I don’t speak as loud or often as I should about the love of God but I do hope my testimony or the way I live my life does. My daughter, Elley, has a testimony that screams in surroundings that try to drown out the voice of God. She prays and leads prayer with others back stage at Dance Competitions surround by her peers without embarrassment and a focus on her Heavenly Father. The Dance world is hard as a Christian but she doesn’t care. This is the testimony and legacy I pray to have. I want a faith as strong as my daughter. NOTE: this picture was taken without her knowledge and not by me.

I am going through the book of Proverbs and it has me thinking. It has taken me two weeks to get through the first two chapters because I have been really thinking about wisdom. In my Bible it has a “Word Study” for wisdom that has really gotten me to dig deep within myself. Here is what it says: Learning (me: studying the Bible) what is right and true (me: not the lie of the what if). Choosing to keep oneself under the disciplined restraint and control of the Lord in order to make wise choices AND correct wrong ones in successfully navigating life’s JOURNEY according to Godly principals. WOW just WOW. I love how this reminds us of the wisdom to correct the wrongs. It is up to us how we navigate and what wisdom we use. The world is full of “wisdom” but I want the right and true wisdom to guide me on my journey. The only place to get that wisdom is through the daily reading and engaging of The Living Word, The Bible. What are your thoughts on wisdom?

About once a week someone comments about this photo. Not because it is a great picture of Jeff or because he is the most handsome man (according to me he is a 6ft red headed stud) but because this is my screen saver on my phone. It amazes people that I have my husband and only my husband as my screen saver. They question why it is not of my daughter, Elley, or a family photo or at least a picture of Jeff and Elley. Don’t get me wrong I love Elley more than I can say but Jeff is so much more than my husband. I could list all that he is but you don’t need to know that 😉. I just wonder when we became a world so wrapped up in our kids that having a picture of your spouse, that you can easily look at through the day is odd or a surprise to most. My relationship with my husband is so much more than having a child together and I am proud of that. NOTE: I am not telling you this to make you second guess your screen saver but just to let people know why I have mine.

When was the last time you physically got down on your knees to pray?

It seems that lately prayer is something I do while doing other things. It has become a multitask. I wonder if this is why my demons seem bigger, my problems seem unfixable and people seem against me. I can’t wait to bruise my knees and spend quality time with my Father.
