Our Story
In Myanmar, the population of youth (10-24 year) is nearly 30 percent of the total population. They are central to the development agenda for the coming two decades of the country however young people are facing many challenges and issues on education, health, employment, and gender equality. Young people need a clear place in participation in political reform, peace building and economic success. At the same time, it is very important to ensure that their rights, health, education, employment and potential are protected, promoted and fulfilled and that these matters are on the nation’s post-2015 development agenda. Since April 2003, the Youth Development Programme of the Myanmar Medical Association build the capacity of young people with the vision of laying foundation for development of the Myanmar youth physically, mentally and intellectually in order to contribute future National Development. The trained young people including us gained skills, capacities and competencies through the process of trainees, volunteers, peer educators and then youth coordinators as leadership skills developed. We are also interested in sharing our experiences, skills and capacities to other young people who do not have access to those capacity development activities. Therefore we decided to establish youth-led organization with the support and guidance from the senior professionals of different background. Under the leadership of coordinator, there are technical, financial, communication, public relation and media teams headed by respective team leaders. All of the members have capacity and skills to manage the activities especially working with young people in their career life.
