I’ve read that the UAE is about to recognise yoga as a sport — and while I appreciate the intention to promote health and mindfulness, I personally disagree with defining yoga this way.

Yoga is not competitive. It’s not about achieving the most beautiful pose or performing for others to see. Yoga is an inner journey — a practice that connects body, mind, and spirit, teaching self-awareness, balance, and peace.

Yes, yoga supports athletes. It helps them reach their peak performance, improve focus, and recover more effectively. But that doesn’t make yoga a sport. It complements sports — it doesn’t compete with them.

When we turn yoga into something to win at, we lose its heart. The real beauty of yoga lies in its stillness, presence, and the quiet strength it cultivates within.

Letting Go Through Yoga
Letting go is a skill — and yoga helps us practice it every day.
Through mindful movement and breath awareness, we learn to notice our emotions, release tension, and pause before reacting.
Yoga teaches us that peace comes not from control, but from awareness and acceptance. When we let go of what we can’t change, we create space for clarity, balance, and calm to return.

In life, we often carry more than we need to: thoughts, emotions, expectations, and even other people’s opinions. This weight can cloud our minds, drain our energy, and disturb our sense of peace. Letting go is not about giving up or being indifferent; it’s about releasing what you cannot contro...

Kindness is more than a simple act — it’s a way of living that begins within. When we nourish our body, mind, and spirit with care and compassion, we naturally radiate that same kindness to others.
At Rayoga Malta, we believe kindness and inner peace go hand in hand — a practice that starts with being gentle and patient with yourself. 💛
Be kind to yourself — you deserve your own compassion.

Giving to others is beautiful—but so is giving to yourself.
When we care for everyone else without replenishing, we risk burnout and losing touch with who we are. True self-care isn’t indulgence—it’s the foundation that allows us to show up with love, clarity, and strength.
Our classes are designed as that pause in your week: a space to restore, recharge, and reconnect with yourself, so you can give to others from a place of fullness.
Come as you are, leave nourished. 💛

Ageing gracefully :-)

https://rayogamalta.com/ageing-gracefully-by-ra-yoga-malta/ -'

Ageing gracefully isn’t about holding on to youth or looking younger than your years. Instead, it’s about living your best life — with the physical strength, mental clarity, and emotional balance to enjoy it truly.

Our bodies naturally lose strength, elasticity, and stamina as we age. This is part of life, but it doesn’t mean we must give in to decline. Yoga offers us a way to honour the body at every stage of life. With regular practice, we can slow the ageing process at a cellular level while maintaining mobility, balance, and flexibility — the things that allow us to move more freely and confidently in our day-to-day activities.
We learn to calm the mind and settle the nervous system through yoga
But ageing well is not only about the body. Mental stress has a powerful effect on our health, too. Through yoga, we learn to calm the mind and settle the nervous system. The practice stimulates the vagus nerve, activating the body’s natural relaxation response and creating a sense of inner calm. Over time, this helps reduce stress and support overall well-being.

Now that I am in my sixties, my teaching has evolved alongside me. I design my classes to be accessible to everyone, including older beginners. My approach is adaptable: postures can be practised standing, seated, on the knees, lying down, or even in a chair. This flexibility ensures that individuals can move at their own pace, working safely around any restrictions or limitations.

Ageing may not be a choice — but ageing gracefully certainly is. Yoga is one of the most effective tools to support this journey. My classes combine gentle yet effective yoga, offering a practice that is both accessible and profoundly beneficial. Each session is tailored to the individual’s unique needs, helping you feel stronger, calmer, and more at ease in both body and mind.

If you want to discover how yoga can support your graceful ageing journey, I invite you to join one of my classes. Together, we’ll create a practice that honours your body, calms your mind, and helps you live life with more ease and vitality.
