NCPE Commissioner Ms Renee Laiviera addressing NCPE’s TRANSFORMConference 2025: ‘The meaning of Work and the importance of ensuring Equality: Bridging Contemporary Views with Future Vision’

“Today’s Conference will place a particular focus on the central role of equality in shaping fair and inclusive workplaces where every individual can thrive. Digitalisation, automation and technological change have brought about shifts in the occupational structure, the place and the timing of work, and career patterns….While such developments can increase productivity and competitiveness, they can also put further strain on the standard employment relationship and impact the employment prospects and conditions of many women and men. An equality perspective needs to be mainstreamed in order to analyse and adequately address challenges related to the changing world of work…”

📢 The NCPE developed an Equal Pay Tool to help organisations check equal pay for work of equal value between women and men to further safeguard gender equality at the workplace.

➡Equal pay for work of equal value covers not only cases where men and women do the same or similar work, but also where they do different work of same value.

➡Equality Mark certified organisations, employing at least 50 persons, are eligible to apply free of charge for the Equal Pay Certification and to make use of the Equal Pay Tool.

📢 L-NCPE żviluppat l-Equal Pay Tool biex tgħin lill-organizzazzjonijiet jiċċekkjaw paga ugwali għal xogħol ta’ valur ugwali bejn in-nisa u l-irġiel fuq il-post tax-xogħol.

➡Paga ugwali għal xogħol ta’ valur ugwali ma tkoprix biss każijiet fejn in-nisa u l-irġiel jagħmlu l-istess xogħol, jew xogħol simili, iżda wkoll meta jagħmlu xogħol differenti tal-istess valur.

➡Organizzazzjonijiet ċċertifikati bil-Marka tal-Ugwaljanza, li jimpjegaw mill-inqas 50 persuna, huma eliġibbli biex japplikaw għaċ-Ċertifikazzjoni ta' Paga Indaqs u jagħmlu użu mill-Equal Pay Tool.

📢 Il-Jum Internazzjonali dwar in-Nisa, il-Paċi u s-Sigurtà - 31 ta' Ottubru 2025 (Il-25 anniversarju)

➡️ In-nisa għandhom rwol kruċjali fit-tkabbir tal-paċi, il-promozzjoni tal-ugwaljanza, u t-tiswir ta' komunitajiet reżiljenti. Il-kisba tal-ugwaljanza bejn il-ġeneri hija ċentrali għall-paċi u s-sigurtà sostenibbli.

➡️ L-NCPE tippromwovi l-ugwaljanza bejn il-ġeneri billi tqajjem kuxjenza, tiġġieled l-isterjotipi, u tappoġġja l-parteċipazzjoni sinifikanti tan-nisa f'pożizzjonijiet tat-teħid tad-deċiżjonijiet.

➡️ Mill-adozzjoni tar-Riżoluzzjoni 1325 tal-Kunsill tas-Sigurtà tal-Ġnus Magħquda fl-2000, ir-rwol tan-nisa fil-proċessi ta' paċi ġie rikonoxxut formalment. Fl-2020, Malta nediet l-ewwel Pjan ta' Azzjoni Nazzjonali tagħha dwar l-Aġenda dwar in-Nisa, il-Paċi u s-Sigurtà biex timplimenta dan fil-livell nazzjonali, bl-NCPE jkollha rwol ewlieni fit-twettiq ta' diversi miżuri tagħha.

📢 The International Day on Women, Peace and Security - (25th anniversary)

➡️ Women play a vital role in building peace, promoting equality, and shaping resilient communities. Achieving gender equality is central to sustainable peace and security.

➡️ The NCPE promotes gender equality by raising awareness, challenging stereotypes, and supporting women’s meaningful participation in decision-making positions.

➡️ Since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in 2000, the role of women in peace processes has been formally recognised. In 2020, Malta launched its first National Action Plan on the WPS Agenda to implement this at a national level, with the NCPE playing a key role in delivering several of its measures.
