Lanfranco Genealogy Services – MALTA, is a vibrant family-run business dedicated to unearthing the rich tapestry of family histories for clients both locally and abroad. A Legacy Begins
The roots of this remarkable journey trace back several decades to Don Gio Carlo Muscat, a visionary from the quaint village of Zebbug in Malta. This endeavor involved painstakingly transcribing tens of thousands of marriage acts from the Parishes of Malta and Gozo, dating back to 1550. A Labor of Love
This monumental task was no small feat; it spanned many years and required immense dedication. With the support of like-minded individuals, Don Carlo began categorizing marriages by surname and village, creating a pioneering indexing system that simplified genealogical research. The primary aim of this initiative was—and continues to be—compiling comprehensive family tree charts. An Impressive Collection
Throughout his lifetime, Don Carlo authored an astounding 250 volumes of genealogical material, each packed with around 1,000 pages of invaluable information. Following his passing in 1942, his niece Mary Anne Muscat carried the torch until 1980, when Mary Lanfranco, her cousin, took on the mantle with enthusiasm. By the mid-1990s, Mary’s husband Antoine joined the effort, recognizing the critical need to update marriage records that had remained stagnant for over six decades. A Treasure Trove of History
Today, the Lanfranco archives boast over 600 volumes of reference materials, establishing it as the largest collection of family history records on the Maltese islands. This extensive repository not only serves as a testament to Don Carlo's legacy but also as a vital resource for those eager to explore their ancestry. Inspiring Reflections
