⬛️ Smart Group Malta Announces Appointment of Group Chief Legal & Governance Officer ⬛️

Smart Group Malta has announced the appointment of Avv. Saverio Lauretta as the new Group Chief Legal & Governance Officer (CLGO), marking an important milestone in the Group’s ongoing phase of consolidation and growth. The appointment follows a formal company announcement issued in line with the Capital Markets Rules of the Malta Financial Services Authority.

In his new role, Avv. Lauretta will work closely with the Office of the CEO and the Board of Directors, assuming overall leadership and coordination of the Group’s legal, governance, and compliance framework.

His mandate includes ensuring that Smart Group Malta continues to operate under a robust governance structure while aligning legal and regulatory processes with the Group’s evolving strategic goals.

With over 26 years of professional experience, Avv. Lauretta brings an extensive track record in asset and project management, corporate strategy, financial oversight, and business leadership. Throughout his career, he has advised both national and international enterprises on corporate, commercial, and asset protection matters, as well as providing strategic support for development initiatives and joint venture transactions.

He holds a law degree from the University of Catania and is qualified to practice law at the highest levels of jurisdiction. Avv. Lauretta has also served as a lecturer and trainer, further enriching his capacity to guide organisational transformation and structural governance.

The Group noted that this appointment reflects its strengthened commitment to sustainable expansion, regulatory excellence, and long-term business development.

By enhancing its internal legal and governance capabilities at executive level, Smart Group Malta aims to reinforce its position as a leading player across its diverse sectors of investment, property development, hospitality, and long-term care.

Dr. Katia Cachia, Company Secretary of Smart Group Malta, formally issued the announcement confirming the appointment.
