📢 Let's Talk About Child & Teen Stress 🧠

During the 2025 Public Service Expo, over 200 children and youth shared what makes them feel worried or stressed through short questionnaires on the Empowering Children App.

Top Stressors (Ages 7–15):

🎒 Academic Pressure — 59%
💬 Social Dynamics — 8.3%
🏠 Family Issues — 7.1%
💭 Anxiety & Feelings — 5.8%
🌱 Global Concerns — 3.2%

Top Stressors (Ages 16–18):

📚 Academic Pressure — 37.8%
🌍 Environmental Issues — 8.1%
🎯 Hobbies/Activities — 8.1%
🩺 Health & Well-being — 5.4%
💶 Financial Issues — 5.4%

Happily, most young people reported feeling happy and energetic, however, schoolwork and exams remain their biggest source of stress. Let's recognise the stress our teens face as they navigate the present and prepare for their future. Let's create supportive spaces for them to talk openly and seek help.

Matul l-Expo tas-Servizz Pubbliku tal-2025, aktar minn 200 minorenni, qasmu dak li jħassibhom u jistressjahom permezz ta’ kwestjonarji qosra fuq l-Empowering Children App.

Fortunatament, il-maġġoranza tat-tfal u ż-żgħażagħ irrappurtaw li jħossuhom kuntenti u mimlijin enerġija. Madankollu, ix-xogħol tal-iskola u l-eżamijiet jibqgħu l-akbar sors ta’ stress għalihom. Ejja nirrikonoxxu l-pressjonijiet li jaffaċċjaw iż-żgħażagħ hekk kif jippruvaw jinnavigaw il-preżent u jħejju ruħhom għall-futur. Ejja noħolqu spazji ta’ appoġġ fejn jistgħu jitkellmu b’mod miftuħ u jfittxu l-għajnuna meta jkollhom bżonn.

🧠 Empowering a Mentally Healthy Generation huwa proġett kofinanzjat mill-Programm CERV, impenjat biex jappoġġa saħħa mentali aħjar għat-tfal u ż-żgħażagħ — billi nisimgħu, nitgħallmu u naġixxu.

🌟 Empowering a Mentally Healthy Generation 🌟

Today, the Ministry for Education, Youth, Sports, Research and Innovation hosted Focus Group discussions as part of the national study “Empowering a Mentally Healthy Generation”.

The goal? To gain a deeper understanding of the challenges contributing to the rise of mental health difficulties among children in Malta and Gozo.

Participants from across sectors came together to:
• Share experiences and insights on children’s mental health
• Identify social, structural, and policy-related challenges
• Offer practical recommendations to shape a holistic and sustainable national response

This is just the first step, but it’s an important one towards creating a healthier, happier future for our children! ❤️

🌟 Ġenerazzjoni b’Saħħa Mentali Sana 🌟

Illum, il-Ministeru għall-Edukazzjoni, Żgħażagħ, I Sports, Riċerka u Innovazzjoni organizza Focus Group bħala parti mill-istudju nazzjonali “Ġenerazzjoni b’Saħħa Mentali Sana".

L-għan? Li nifhmu aħjar l-isfidi li qed jikkontribwixxu għall-iżvilupp ta’ diffikultajiet fis-saħħa mentali fost it-tfal f’Malta u Għawdex.

Parteċipanti minn diversi setturi ġew flimkien biex:

• Jaqsmu esperjenzi u għarfien dwar is-saħħa mentali tat-tfal
• Jidentifikaw sfidi soċjali, strutturali u regolatorji
• Joffru rakkomandazzjonijiet prattiċi biex jinħoloq rispons nazzjonali olistiku u sostenibbli

Dan huwa biss il-pass ta’ qabel, imma pass importanti lejn futur aktar b’saħħtu u kuntent għal uliedna! ❤️

🟡✨New child-friendly booklet! 💛

On 1 July 2025, as part of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of Europe, the Ministry for Social Policy and Children's Rights will be hosting an important Ministerial discussion on the "Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse". This event will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Lanzarote Convention.

The Lanzarote Convention is a promise to keep every child safe from sexual abuse and exploitation, both in real life and online.

To celebrate this event and to continue on our mission of Empowering Children, we are happy to share a special booklet for children. This booklet helps children understand how to stay safe, know their rights, and get help if they need it.

Fl-1 ta’ Lulju 2025, bħala parti mill-Presidenza Maltija tal-Kunsill tal-Ewropa, il-Ministeru għall-Politika Soċjali u d-Drittijiet tat-Tfal se jospita diskussjoni ministerjali importanti dwar il-"Protezzjoni tat-Tfal mill-Isfruttament Sesswali u l-Abbuż". Dan l-avveniment se jiċċelebra l-15-il Anniversarju tal-Konvenzjoni ta’ Lanzarote.

Il-Konvenzjoni ta’ Lanzarote hija wegħda biex kull tifel u tifla jkunu protetti mill-abbuż u l-isfruttament sesswali, kemm fid-dinja reali kif ukoll online.

Biex niċċelebraw dan l-avveniment u nkomplu fil-missjoni tagħna li Nsaħħu l-Parteċipazzjoni tat-Tfal, ferħanin li naqsmu ktieb speċjali għat-tfal. Dan il-ktieb jgħinhom jifhmu kif jistgħu jibqgħu siguri, jagħrfu d-drittijiet tagħhom u jfittxu għajnuna meta jkollhom bżonn.
