Some gifts mean more than words.

This lovely patient brought me a strawberry-loaded cheesecake and homemade apom manis made by her own hands after her eye problem resolved. 🍰🥞

Seeing clearly again gave her the confidence to return to what she loves, and that in itself is the greatest reward for me.

She has been gentle, kind, and sweet from the very first consultation until today. Truly grateful for this sincere gesture and the trust she placed in me.

Moments like this remind me why I do what I do. Clear vision changes lives.
(and cheesecake changes size).

Honoured to share that I am a co-author of the newly published Springer Nature book, “Screen, Diagnose, Manage and Monitor – A GP Primer to Common Clinical Conditions.”

I had the privilege of contributing the chapter on Cataract, with the aim of equipping primary care doctors with practical, concise, and clinically relevant guidance to support early detection and timely referral.

As cataract remains one of the leading causes of reversible blindness worldwide, strengthening knowledge at the primary care level can make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes.

Grateful to the editorial team and fellow contributors for the opportunity to be part of this multidisciplinary effort.

Slit lamp joystick almost feels like I'm playing a game... where joystick skills = diagnosis jackpot.
And I love winning! 🫢

Also, my Tiktok game is getting strong 🤣

From clinic scrubs to OT mode 👩‍⚕️
Reminder: when you stare at your phone, your blink rate drops by 60%.
That is from 15 blinks per minute to only 5 blinks!

Less blinking = drier eyes, tired vision, and that gritty “I-need-eye-drops-NOW” feeling.

So blink now before your corneas file a complaint hehe. (okay, lame)

Fun fact: Dry eye isn’t always about “not enough tears”. Sometimes your tears evaporate too fast because you forget to blink while scrolling. 🫢

Highlight post to give a shoutout to Awis - my kawan of almost 10 years! Congratulations on mastering and skillfully performing almost 100 trabec and tubes in just your 1 year here in Ipoh.

I wish you all the best in your 2nd year of Glaucoma fellowship - which starts today!
Your teh tarik and our professional chat (read: gossip) sessions will be fondly missed. You'll impress the East Coast, no doubt. I wish you only success and a wonderful time in Kelantan for the next 12 months! Till we meet again 👋

When you look at something straight, like a door frame, tiles, text, or stripes on a shirt.. it should look straight.

If it suddenly looks bent, wavy, patchy, or broken, that’s called metamorphopsia.
It usually happens when the macula (center area of the eye nerve for sharp vision) is swollen or damaged.

Common causes: diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, membrane pulling, or fluid under the retina.

If you ever notice this, please don’t wait.
Get your eyes checked ASAP. Early treatment saves sight.

A lovely Sunday with the MMA Office Ophthalmology Workshop, where I was invited to share practical office-based eye assessment tips.
Doctors came from near and far.. from around Perak to Cameron Highlands, and even from Selangor! All eager to refine skills that truly make a difference at the front line of care.

Primary care doctors are our front line in detecting early and often subtle eye conditions. Their continuous effort to upskill in eye emergencies and office-based ophthalmic procedures directly improves community safety by identifying sight- and life-threatening conditions early.

Thank you MMA Perak (on behalf of KOOPMMA) for organising this meaningful platform and to all the attending GPs for your dedication to lifelong learning and patient care. Proud to have contributed to this shared mission. ❤️

Mirror mirror in the lift,
Who’s the newest private ophthalmologist?
(Still me. Still figuring it out.😂)

It’s been one month of adjusting, learning, growing, and occasionally posing like I’m in a fashion shoot… even though I’m just going to my clinic 😜🤪

This place has already given me new experiences, new challenges, and new reasons to wake up excited every morning.

This is just Month One, so I can’t wait to see what Month Two brings…
More cases? More confidence? More OOTDs? Probably all of the above. 😆
