𝘒𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘢 𝘒𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘳, 29 𝘕𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 2025 - Today, Kampung Beluru celebrated a significant milestone for community socioeconomic development with the handover ceremony of a honey dehydration system, HILDA System by Brainey Sdn. Bhd. for the Kelulut Honey project under the “Santuni Madani (Program Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung)” programme. Among those present were Datuk Mohd Ariff Abdul Majid, Menteri Besar Perak’s Special Officer; Mr Junady Nawawi, TERAJU’s Chief Executive Officer; Mr Syed Abdullah, the head of Kampung Beluru’s Jawatankuasa Pembangunan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JPKK); and Dr Mohd Zulkifli Mustafa, the founder of Brainey Sdn. Bhd., which is a spin-off company of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The ceremony was officiated by Mr Junady Nawawi, TERAJU’s Chief Executive Officer, who highlighted the agency’s instrumental role in providing training and strategic cooperation to strengthen the Kelulut honey industry at Kampung Beluru. This initiative aligns with Malaysia’s national aspiration under the Pelan Transformasi Ekonomi Bumiputera 2035 (PuTERA25), aiming to empower Bumiputera households through viable and innovative rural community models by 2035. Under this initiative, every Kampung Beluru household is expected to maintain at least two Kelulut bee hives to generate income, with TERAJU providing ongoing support to ensure the honey meets market standards.
Shedding light on Kampung Beluru’s vision for economic growth, Mr Syed Abdullah, Head of Kampung Beluru’s JPKK, described this programme as a stepping stone towards the village’s socioeconomic development. Through this programme, Kampung Beluru’s vision as a one-stop centre and collection hub for Kelulut honey in the Kuala Kangsar district can be achieved by providing the community with the opportunity of expanding Kelulut farming into a commercial enterprise.
The key highlight of the event was the handover of the patented HILDA System, a state-of-the-art honey dehydration system, sponsored by TERAJU to Kampung Beluru’s JPKK by Mr Junady Nawawi. This handover is significant in the project’s value chain as it plays a vital role in positioning Kelulut honey as an esteemed commodity in both domestic and international markets. A briefing on the HILDA System was presented by Dr Zulkifli, highlighting how honey dehydration ensures product stability, extends shelf life and builds consumer trust, simultaneously paving the way for essential certifications such as MESTI and HACCP, which are prerequisites for entering larger and more competitive markets. It also helps minimise losses from spoiled products while safeguarding Kampung Beluru’s community reputation through consistent quality and professional standards.
In essence, the initiative unveiled today reinforces Brainey’s mission to create a sustainable economic ecosystem rooted in Kelulunomic, a socioeconomic model centred on Economic based on Kelulut. Under Kelulunomic, stingless bee hives are provided to villagers who then harvest and extract honey to generate income. Meanwhile, the stingless bees collect pollen from surrounding trees, supporting environmental sustainability, biodiversity and food security. This integrated chain fosters shared benefits for all – forests are preserved, bees are conserved, villagers gain income as well as consumers and scientists get high-quality honey for consumption and research purposes, respectively. Furthermore, Kelulunomic supports the government’s implementation of important policies like MyGAP and HACCP, thereby intensifying the contribution of Kelulut honey to the local economy.
This event underscored Brainey’s ongoing commitment to advancing the Kelulut honey industry by unlocking its potential to drive a more sustainable community socioeconomic development. 💪
