🔵✨ BLUE LIGHT LASER THERAPY FOR PROSTATE ENLARGEMENT (BPH) ✨🔵

A modern, precise & minimally invasive solution for urinary symptoms

---

🤔 What is BPH?

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate that commonly affects men as they age 👨‍🦳
As the prostate grows, it can press on the urinary channel and cause:

🚽 Frequent urination
🌙 Waking at night to pass urine (nocturia)
⏳ Weak urine flow
😣 Difficulty starting or stopping urine
🚫 Feeling of incomplete emptying

---

🔵 What is Blue Light Laser Therapy?

Blue light laser therapy (often referred to as photoselective vaporization of the prostate – PVP) uses a high-energy laser beam to safely remove excess prostate tissue blocking urine flow ⚡

💡 The laser targets blood-rich prostate tissue → vaporizes it → opens the urinary passage
💉 All done without traditional cutting

---

🌟 Why Patients Are Choosing Laser Treatment

✅ Minimally invasive– no large incisions
🩸 Very low bleeding risk (great for patients on blood thinners)
🏥 Short hospital stay – often same day or overnight
⚡ Fast symptom relief
⏱️ Quick recovery & return to normal activities
🔄 Durable long-term results

---

🛠️ How is the Procedure Done?

🔍 A small telescope (scope) is passed through the natural urinary passage (no external cuts)
🔵 The laser fibre is guided to the prostate
⚡ Excess tissue is gently vaporized
🚽 Urine flow improves immediately after the blockage is removed

---

👨‍⚕️ Who is Suitable?

✔️ Men with moderate to severe urinary symptoms
✔️ Patients not responding well to medications
✔️ Those who want to avoid long-term medication
✔️ Suitable even for higher-risk patients (e.g. on anticoagulants)

---

⚠️ Are There Any Side Effects?

Like any medical procedure, there can be some temporary effects:

💧 Mild burning during urination (short-term)
🩸 Light blood in urine initially
🔄 Retrograde ej*******on (dry ej*******on) in some men

👉 Serious complications are uncommon when performed by experienced hands

---

🔍 How Does It Compare to Traditional Surgery?

🔵 Laser therapy vs conventional TURP:

✔️ Less bleeding
✔️ Shorter catheter time
✔️ Faster recovery
✔️ Comparable or better outcomes

---

💬 Take-Home Message

BPH is common, treatable, and manageable 🙌
Blue light laser therapy offers a safe, effective, and modern solution that helps men regain comfort, confidence, and quality of life 💙

“It has been an interesting experience.”

Dr Kenny, a urologist from HTAA Kuantan, shares his thoughts after trying the Kangduo robotic surgical system during our recent training visit to the Kangduo Robotics Training Centre in Beijing.

Hands-on exposure to robotic technology allows surgeons to explore how these systems can enhance precision, ergonomics, and surgical workflow.

IBS Medic is proud to support opportunities that allow Malaysian surgeons to experience advanced medical technologies and training on the international stage.

Robotic Surgery Training in Beijing 🇨🇳

IBS Medic recently facilitated a training visit to the Kangduo Robotics Training Centre in Beijing, where Malaysian surgeons had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the Kangduo robotic surgical system.

Dr Kenny and Dr Eugene were the recipients of this training opportunity announced during our MUC 2025 Prize Giveaway, part of IBS Medic’s commitment to supporting the advancement of robotic surgical education.

The programme included an introduction to the Kangduo system, a tour of the training centre, and demonstrations of the robotic platform by the Sagebot training engineers.

A big thank you to the Sagebot for hosting and guiding the training.

At IBS Medic, we remain committed to bringing advanced medical technologies and training opportunities to Malaysian surgeons.
