🎓Guide to Conscious Consumption
🌱 Why Choose Vegan & Cruelty-Free?
When shopping, look out for certified Vegan logo. This guarantees that no animal cruelty or lab testing was involved in making the product. Especially industries like egg & dairy often rely on the severe exploitation of mother animals.
By raising our awareness across all aspects of daily life—from what we eat to what we wear & use (衣食住行)we really can make a massive difference. Supporting vegan & cruelty-free products is one of the most direct ways to minimize our impact on Mother Earth.
🐄 Extending Empathy: The Female Animal
We always talk about how great our human mothers are, but what about mothers in the animal kingdom?
If we believe in women’s rights & female empowerment, we should reconsider how female animals are treated for their milk, eggs, & offspring. For example, in the commercial dairy industry, mother cows are repeatedly & forcibly impregnated just to maintain a continuous supply of milk & cheese. Tragically, their newborn calves are typically taken away shortly after birth so humans can harvest the milk. This cycle causes immense emotional & physical suffering to both the mother & her baby True liberation & fairness should extend to all mothers, regardless of race, religion, or species.
🌾 The Power of Organic
Take our conscious in products a step further by looking for organic labels like the Demeter certification. Demeter goes far beyond standard organic farming to ensure ecological, social & spiritual integrity. It promotes biodiversity, and enforces strict processing standards.
Despite numerous journal articles/studies highlighting the harmful effects of chemical pesticides on human health, awareness of organic products is still low in Malaysia.
🌍 From Compassion to Respect
People often use the word compassion, but I prefer the word respect. We must respect the lives of animals—they are here WITH us, not FOR us.
I hope to one day see a world completely free from cruelty. Not just on our dining tables, but in every single moment of our lives, from the clothes we wear to the products we apply to our skin
