Just want to share something many people don’t realise about omega-3 fish oil 👇
When you see very cheap omega-3 on pharmacy shelves, it’s easy to think:
“Same thing lah. All fish oil.”
But here’s the truth — not all fish oil gives you omega-3. 😢
Many bottles proudly say “1000 mg fish oil.”
Sounds good, right?
But what actually matters is EPA & DHA — that’s the real omega-3 your body needs.
In many cheap products, EPA + DHA is very low.
You’re basically swallowing oil… not omega-3. 😳
Another issue people rarely talk about is oxidation.
Fish oil is very sensitive. Poor processing, poor storage, or long shelf life can make it oxidised (rancid).
❌ Oxidised fish oil doesn’t reduce inflammation
❌ It may actually increase inflammation
That’s why some people say:
“I take fish oil but I don’t feel good.”
Good quality omega-3 costs more because it needs:
✅ clean source fish
✅ proper purification
✅ heavy metal removal
✅ controlled processing
✅ accurate EPA & DHA dosing
✅ oxidation testing
All these are expensive.
There’s no shortcut.
So when someone compares a very cheap omega-3 with a properly tested one —
it’s not about branding.
It’s about what you’re actually getting:
👉 omega-3… or just oil.
My personal reminder to myself & friends:
If you’re taking supplements, know what you’re paying for.
Cheap doesn’t always mean value.
Sometimes it means you’re not getting what you think — or worse, stressing your body more.
Awareness first. Decisions after. 🤍
