It is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), with a second tranche of four-year funding commencing in June 2022.
As Education and Capacity Building Coordinator, you will coordinate the development and delivery of a large, international education and capacity-building programme, working closely with the co-leads of the RESPIRE Education and capacity-building platform. The platform aims to build capacity in respiratory disease research across low- and middle-income country (LMIC) partner organisations.
RESPIRE comprises three research programmes (Infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and Preventable respiratory risk factors) and four cross-cutting translational platforms. In addition to the Education and capacity building platform (platform ii), the other platforms are Stakeholder and Community Engagement and Involvement (i); Open science, data and methodologies (iii); and Digital health and innovation (iv).
4. Main Responsibilities
(a) Coordination, administration, and project management:

• Liaise with the RESPIRE central team to manage budgets (e.g., LMIC budgets for workshops and other training delivery).
• Proactively ensure coordination with other platforms and with programmes and projects, through building relationships, initiating, and attending meetings, ensuring agreed actions are followed up, keeping an accurate record of meetings, etc.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational/training interventions using a reporting framework based on Kirkpatrick’s outcomes.
(b) Training design and delivery:
• Liaise with programmes, platforms, and projects to finalise a detailed needs and assets assessment (ensuring close liaison with all RESPIRE programmes, platforms and projects).
• Identify and support those with specific skills in the “hubs” to cascade training to the “spokes”.
• Systematically audit existing educational resources to meet identified needs, working closely with programme and project staff and ECBOs to adapt these to meet identified needs locally.
• Develop bespoke educational resources where necessary, working closely with programme and project staff and ECBOs.
• Establish a mentorship approach at all levels of RESPIRE, ensuring that RESPIRE members are appropriately trained and supported to undertake mentoring roles.
• Deliver online and in-person workshops and training sessions, as required.
• Work with subject-specialists to design educational and training workshops and materials (in-person and online)
• Liaise with the Digital platform (iv) to populate the RESPIRE Education and capacity building hub.
• Conduct any other relevant task relating to education and capacity building.
