PAPAYA ENZYME, EXPLAINED 🌿✨
Papaya is widely known as a tropical fruit, but in skin science, what makes papaya unique is a naturally occurring enzyme called Papain. Papain is a proteolytic enzyme, meaning it works by breaking down proteins.
On the surface of the skin, dead skin cells are held together by protein-based bonds. When these dead cells are not shed efficiently, they accumulate, causing the skin to appear dull, rough, uneven, and less radiant. Papain selectively breaks down the protein bonds that bind these dead skin cells together. Once these bonds are loosened, the dead cells can detach more easily and be naturally removed from the skin’s surface.
In Celllora® Luminescing Toner, Papain plays a supportive yet important role. It gently refines the skin’s surface, helping to improve smoothness and clarity over time. By reducing surface buildup, the toner allows hydrating ingredients and CIGF™ to interact more effectively with the skin.
Simply put, when dead skin cells are removed, the skin is better able to receive what comes next.
