Do you consider Safe Working Loads when you choose aids for a task?
People frequently ask us about the SWL of our products – even if they aren’t designed or intended to lift. So why might the SWL be important?
The SWL should be considered as vital for all Patient Handling Aids that are expected to support a patient during ANY point of their use. And I emphasize SUPPORT, and not just lift. With levels of obesity on the increase, the regularity with which healthcare professionals are required to assist bariatric patients is growing. Consider also that statistically, obesity rates increase with age, and disabled people are also more disposed to it, so mobility limitations are frequently compounded by other health factors – creating additional complications.
In general most transfer boards have significant SWLs and are adequate for the majority. Have you ever had to stop and contemplate whether a patient is within the safe limit though? Maybe you don’t know how heavy they are and can’t find out prior to a transfer? Our new Eezi-Transfer™ boards take the worry out of the job with all having an incredible SWL.
The Lateral Board for example has an absolutely sensational SWL of 500kg! – The highest in the world! There are very, very few people that would be considered an unsuitable weight for its use. For a sense of perspective, in Wikipedia’s list of “Heaviest people, weighed and verified, living and dead” only six have ever exceeded it. Or if it helps, 500kg is apparently higher than your average polar bear. Thus demonstrating the safety you have with our products.
So take a look at our new Eezi-Transfer™ range and feel safer in the equipment you use. They take some beating!
