📍 “University of Thessaly meets North America Universities”

Honoured to attend this academic exchange connecting University of Thessaly with leading North American institutions, featuring world-class orthopaedic leaders including Prof. Mohit Bhandari and Prof. Nicholas Colyvas.

Prof. Bhandari’s (Editor in Chief of JBJS) talk on human creativity and the future of journals was especially thought-provoking — a reminder that science is evolving not only in the OR but also in how we generate and share knowledge.

Over dinner, I had a long and candid conversation with Prof. Colyvas — and interestingly, many of the challenges we face in Malaysia are the same in the US: TPAs, insurance constraints, medicolegal pressures, and even misleading promises & advertising on social media. The problems are global, not local.

Such meetings reinforce one thing — we are more alike than different, and collaboration is the way forward.

Special thanks to Professors Hantes and Professor Karachailos for organizing this wonderful meet and greet.

On the 12th–13th of September 2025, I had the privilege of serving as Co-Chairman for the FFNM–AFN Conference. It was an incredible honor to work alongside colleagues dedicated to advancing fragility fracture care.

I was also invited to speak on “Implementing a Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) and the Challenges in Sustaining It” — sharing our experience at Hospital Sungai Buloh. From weekend OT limitations to manpower and data collection hurdles, sustaining an FLS is not without challenges. Yet, the collaborative spirit of our multidisciplinary team has shown that with commitment and innovation, meaningful progress is possible.

Grateful for the opportunity, and even more inspired by the exchange of ideas with so many passionate professionals. Together, let’s continue to strengthen FLS across Malaysia and beyond. 💪🦴✨
