I had a deep, enlightening conversation with Dr Chisom, a medical practitioner, in my office yesterday and we shared our individual concerns about what's going on in the medical industry lately.
And one of what she kept talking about was the fact that there are more substandard, or fake drugs in the market today than there are original ones.
And she also mentioned that most hospitals, or pharmacies, are intentionally selling these substandard drugs to patients, just because it comes cheaper for them and would give them more profits.
This is why a lot of patients stay on medical treatments for too long without getting any good results.
As someone who's worked with different hospitals in Lagos and other Eastern states, she said these practices were quite common.
And many lives are lost in hospitals simply because most times, hospitals prioritize profit over lives of patients.
"Everyone is out to make more money, even at the expense of human lives", she said. "And this greed is increasingly growing in the healthcare sector".
I couldn't agree more. As someone in the alternative medicine sector, I have met thousands of people who came to us after they've spent everything they had, running from hospital to hospital, in search of solution.
Dr Chisom said, "The problem is that many Nigerians are more interested in who is cheaper than in who provides quality services".
She went on to explain that in her practice, she has made it a priority to only serve patients who are more ready to pay the price for the best service than those who are more interested in cutting cost.
"I'd rather use the best quality products to treat my patients and have them pay a huge amount" she continued. "What matters most is that they get result. I am not one of those who would agree to a cheap price, only to end up buying substandard medicines for your treatment."
I agree with her. A lot of people come to us claiming they want the best lasting solution. But when we give them our prescription and cost, they get angry.
Some have even accused us of prioritizing money over human lives. But that's not true.
In reality, quality products costs more. The problem is that many Nigerians are used to what's cheaper than what's of best quality.
They claim they want the best quality, yet, everyday, they make their buying decisions based on what's cheaper.
This is why our treatments and natural medicines are not for everybody.
I went ahead to share our plan for 2026 with her. I showed her how we have created a system to help us only work with those who truly value their health and would do anything to get the best result.
"In 2026, here at Korganics Health, we'll be introducing a paid Virtual Consultation Session where people would book a 1 hour session with us, to speak with our Health Consultants", I said to her, showing her what we're working on on my laptop screen.
"In this session", I continued, "we will listen to them share everything they're experiencing, analyze their conditions, reveal what's really causing it, and draw out a holistic treatment plan for them, so they can really put an end to the problem permanently."
I revealed how we may not longer be available to entertain everybody, because we've realized that majority of people do not really value their health enough to pay the price to keep it.
Dr Chisom was impressed with our work and what we are working on, and she even agreed to partner with us to see to the success of this project.
In her words, "I love this new approach you're adopting. This will ensure you spend more of your time and expertize only on people who are ready to heal from their diseases."
She went on to say, "I will always be available to offer my support whenever needed. My priority is to help free people from diseases, and I have seen that our interests align. So I am more than happy to work with you guys."
Indeed, this was a very important discussion and it has fueled my motivation the more.
Seeing that such an experienced personality in the medical field shares the same concerns and interests as I do, and is willing to support us in our mission of empowering people to live a Disease-Free Life, is all the inspiration I needed.
I look forward to all the great things we can achieve together in 2026.
I know that more successful testimonies will be recorded than ever before.
