Did you know that treatment is not the same thing as Cure?
Dear Body Owner,
Oftentimes, these two are considered the same thing. People tend to use the term “management” to replace treatment with the mindset that treatment means cure. We could learn a new thing together, only if you would read more.
Please when you read health-related posts, don't mistake them for the same thing.
When you see cure, it mean total restoration of health and soundness. Cure is the complete or permanent solution to the condition....... Let's proceed
When we say treatment, it could mean the use of drugs, lifestyle modifications, surgery, and other approaches to improve symptoms or prevent disease progression. At some point, treatment could progress to total elimination of the disease(cure)
But you will also observe that the term “cure” is not used too often because of some reasons like;
🍭When patients hear they have been cured, they become reluctant to follow-up care at home. Sometimes they could stop medications when it's not time to stop
🍭It is difficult to determine with certainty that some diseases have been cured, because most of them reoccur
🍭Using a definitive term like “cure” could give the patient false hope as the long-term prognosis could be unpredictable. If the stated outcome (cure ) is not achieved it will be difficult to convince a patient to accept the current outcome which is of course below expectation.
🍭Not using this word carefully, could lead to more serious issues like malpractice lawsuits. So, healthcare professionals tend to be more careful to prevent the patient or their relative from misunderstanding the patient’s health status.
