FEMALE INFERTILITY.

Female Infertility is the inability to get pregnant despite having frequent, acurately timed, unprotected sexual in*******se for at least a year.

There are many possible causes of Infertility in women; although in some, no cause can be found while in others, more than one cause exist.

Causes of Infertility in women

1) Ovulation failure: Ovulation is the release of mature eggs from the ovaries. This can be due to:
a) Premature ovarian failure- the ovaries stop functioning at a younger age(early menopause)
b) Aging- Ovarian reserve diminishes as your age increases.
c)Endocrine disorders: These affects hormones.

2) Problems of Menstrual Cycle: Absent or irregular menses, too long menstrual cycle ( 35days or more) or too short(less than 21 days), can affect fertility.

3)Infection: Untreated sexually transmitted infections can lead to female pelvic inflammatory diseases which in turn causes scarring that blocks the fallopian tubes.

4) Uterine Fibroids and polyps: these are growths that appear within and around the uterus (womb). They can cause miscarriage or prevent implantation of a fertilised fetus.

To be continued.

Thank you Edvic health care.

I will be so grateful if you will post my story and hide my identity.

My husband and I were together for nine years before getting married. I was in my early 20s when we met, I went back to school and a year after graduating, we bought a house and a year later we were engaged. We got married nine months later and wanted to start trying for a baby after our honeymoon, which we had planned for nine months later.
I was 32; my husband is a few years older. We began to try like many others
My doctor referred us to a fertility clinic and I had my first appointment 13 months after our journey had started.
We tried medication, Clomid, for three cycles. My hormones and all other markers seemed great. No major issues seemed present with husband’s specimens.
When I found out that we might not be able to conceive, I was devastated. Carrying a child, being a mother, is the only thing in life I have ever been certain of. As a child, I said that I would have two children by 25 years old and I would be a single mother if need be—pretty hilarious as I was nowhere near ready for parenthood at 25.

MALE INFERTILITY.

Male Infertility is the inability to get a female partner pregnant despite having frequent, acurately timed, unprotected sexual in*******se for at least a year.
Or simply say, it is the inability to father a child.

Over a third of Infertility issues is associated with a male factor.
This is often due to problems with production of s***m or its distribution(delivery/ transport).

Male fertility depends on the ability of the man's reproductive system to make normal s***m and delivers them.
When a normal/ healthy s***m is ej******ed into the female va**na, the s***m cells swim through the cervix into the womb and gets to the fallopian tubes where it meets with the female egg leading to fertilization.
This whole process works if the genes, hormone levels and environmental conditions are met right.

CAUSES OF MALE INFERTILITY.
*S***m disorders: This can be in form of failure of growing s***m cells to mature cells, abnormal shape/structure, poor motility, low/non production of s***m cells.

*Chromosomes: These make up the DNA of a man. Changes in its numbers or structures can affect fertility.

* Hormones: The production of s***m cells are regulated by hormones, significantly low levels of hormones can cause poor growth.

*Blockage: There can obstruction of the flow of semen through the Male reproductive tract at any level.
This blockage can be caused by defects from birth, male reproductive organ surgeries or recurrent infections.

*Varicoceles: These are swollen veins in the scrotum. They are similar to varicose veins you might see on your leg.
Varicoceles commonly affect both s***m quality and production, although, not all varicoceles affect s***m production.

*Retrograde ej*******on: Certain conditions such as surgery, drugs, health problems can cause backward flow of semen into the bladder rather than out of the p***s.
This can be noted from passing cloudy urine after ej*******on or having dry or less fluid ej*****te.

*Medications: certain drugs used in treating other health conditions can alter the production, function and delivery of s***m.

Dr. Kelvin, Dr. Victoria and all the members of Edvic health care, thank you so much for giving us a platform to share our story.

Please post my story and hide my identity.

My wife and I got married in 2011, we spent two years becoming more and more anxious to conceive with no luck.

Finally, we went to the doctor to seek help and he did what most GPs do in this scenario. The doctor sent me off for a semen analysis test. I was told I had lazy s***m, and he kept going and said, ‘your wife will be pregnant by Christmas’. I remember thinking that was an odd thing to say, and now realise that casual comments like these are quite reckless, especially when directed at the person to blame – in this case me. Christmas passed and nothing happened, so we sought a second opinion from another GP who gave us the same assessment – albeit with a little more tact. We still weren’t happy with that, so we booked an appointment with a locum who looked at the number of my s***m cells and told us we wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally. My humiliation continued.

Please i need your help on what to do.
