Parenting Tip: Raising Digital Allies.

It’s Sunday, and a great time to talk to our children. Digital violence affects everyone, and while we must teach boys to respect women and reject harmful norms, we must also equip them to navigate online spaces safely.

To the parents and guardians in the AWWDI community, teach your sons to:
✅ Be Allies: Stand up to digital abuse against anyone especially women and girls with disabilities who are often targeted.
✅ Protect Themselves: Teach them to block, report, and speak up against cyberbullying and toxic online pressure.
✅ Value Empathy: See everyone as equals, online and offline.

Respectful masculinity and digital safety start at home. Let’s raise a generation built on empathy.

Empowering the Next Generation: Safe & Smart Online.

Every girl should know how to protect herself online.
For girls with disabilities, digital literacy is not just a skill—it is a shield.
"Teach her to report, block, and speak up. Knowledge is power, and power saves lives."

We must ensure that girls with disabilities have equal access to this knowledge. They need to know that if someone makes them feel uncomfortable online, it is not their fault, and there are ways to stop it.

Let's make the internet a safe space for her to learn and grow.

We Are Innovators, Not Punchlines.

Welcome to Day 12 of the .
The internet is often used to mock what people don't understand. We see disabilities ridiculed in comments sections and viral videos. But that ridicule ignores a powerful truth.
"Women With Disabilities Deserve Digital Respect, Not Ridicule."

Look at the image we are sharing today. It represents the reality that is often overlooked: Women with disabilities are scientists, researchers, tech developers, and global leaders. We are solving problems, driving innovation, and building the future.

When you ridicule a person with a disability online, you aren't just being mean—you are dismissing their intellect, their contributions, and their humanity.

It is time to change the lens. Stop seeing a disability to mock, and start seeing the ability that deserves respect.

Call to Action:
Celebrate excellence. Do you know a woman with a disability who is crushing it in her field? Tag her below or mention her business/project. Let’s flood the timeline with professional respect.

Inside, a group of women in lab coats are working: one is in a wheelchair analyzing data on a screen, and others are using microscopes and scientific equipment. This represents women with disabilities as leaders in science and technology.

Strength is Respect, Not Control.

To end gender-based violence, we must start with our youth.
Young men must be taught that true strength is found in respect, empathy, and protection not in control or dominance.

"Let’s challenge harmful masculinities and end the culture of digital bullying and online misogyny."

At AWWDI, we call on young men including those with disabilities to be "Brothers Against Abuse." Don’t let your peers harass women online. Call it out. Stand up. Be an ally.

Let's build a that values safety for everyone.

AWWDI Elevates Women with Disabilities Through Leadership & Advocacy Training in Bwari, FCT

Supported by the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF)

AWWDI hosted a transformative One-Day Intensive Leadership and Advocacy Workshop for women and girls with disabilities in Bwari Area Council, FCT Abuja. The session strengthened participants’ confidence, voice, and visibility, equipping them with knowledge on leadership, disability rights, emotional intelligence, and community engagement.

Facilitator Dr. Kolawole Jayeoba Kolawole reminded participants that “leadership is influence, and influence begins when you speak for yourself.”
Another powerful moment came when a participant reflected, “Silence has never served us, our voices are tools, not burdens.”

Through group activities, participants identified barriers such as stigma, limited education, and inaccessibility—then designed real, community-led solutions. The energy in the room was united by one truth:
“When women with disabilities lead, communities change.”

This workshop, supported by AWDF, moves AWWDI one step closer to building strong, inclusive leadership pipelines for women with disabilities across Nigeria.

You Are Not a Victim in Waiting. You Are a Force.

Welcome to Day 9 of the .
To every woman and girl with a disability reading this: society may try to silence you, overlook you, or push you to the margins. But today, we want you to know the truth about who you are.

Do not let anyone convince you that you should settle for less than total respect. Do not let anyone tell you that your safety is a "favor" or that your dignity is conditional.
You have the right to speak up. You have the right to occupy space. You have the right to be safe in your home, on the street, and online.
We stand with you, behind you, and beside you.

Call to Action:
Tag a woman with a disability who inspires you. Let her know today: "I see your power." Let’s fill the comments with affirmation and solidarity.

Protect Her Right to Lead Without Fear.

Women politicians, activists, and leaders face relentless online attacks. For women with disabilities in leadership, these attacks are often weaponized against our gender and our abilities.

We cannot allow the internet to be used to silence our voices.

"Let’s protect their right to speak, lead and participate without fear."

When women with disabilities lead, society changes for the better. We must ensure digital spaces are safe for them to campaign, advocate, and govern.

Stop the bullying. Support women leaders.

On the left, a Black woman in a wheelchair speaking at a podium is bombarded by "Online Attacks" like insults and angry emojis, looking distressed. On the right, she is shown confident and smiling, protected by a glowing shield labeled "Safe Leadership," surrounded by supportive icons like hearts and microphones. A quote reads, "Let’s protect their right to speak, lead and participate without fear."
