Is eye check necessary?
Yes, it is.
Human beings are expected to undergo eye check every 1 to 2 years. This is necessary because of factors such as; age, health challenge, and whether they wear glasses or contact lenses.
Below is the general guide:
For Children (6 months to 8 years)
Their first eye examination is at 6 - 12 months
Second examination at 3 - 5 years
Then every 1 to 2 years during school.
In Adults (18 to 60 years)
Eye examination should take place every 2 years if there is no vision problems; and annually for those that wear glasses/ contacts or have health challenges such as diabetes.
Adults over the age of 60 however, should check their eyes every year to monitor for age related issues like glaucoma, cataracts, or macular degeneration.
