All pregnant women should be wary of the people that tell you to hope and put your faith in God when your Doctor tells you to undergo ceaserean section.the same people will cry and wail when you die, then move on immediately... Including your husband. Some might accuse you of inadequate faith or question your past and character while consoling themselves.
BIRTH IN HOSPITALS THAT HAVE QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.
MATERNAL MORTALITY SHOULD BE PUT INTO SCRUTINY, AND NOT JUST ACCEPTED AS THE WILL OF GOD.

Jaundice in Children
The term jaundice is defined as the yellowish discolouration of the skin, and sclera( white part of the eyes),caused by the the increase of bilirubin in the blood. In newborns, this increase can be physiological or pathological. Causes of pathological jaundice can be due to infections, blood disorders, hereditary diseases or congenital abnormalities. What happens is that the level of this product called bilirubin increases to a fatal level which can lead to permanent damage of organs especially the brain. Many Mothers must have experience this disorder in their children, and most cases would have resolved spontaneously or after a simple exposure to ultraviolet light. The few unfortunate children would go on having a permanent brain damage called Kernicterus or may have even led to death.
It is very important to have a baby in a reliable facility where the mother and baby will be managed and observed adequately. But for those without the luxury of proper healthcare, more focus should be placed on these young infants so as to detect early enough for signs of yellowness of the skin and Sclera.
Early precaution like this would save you a life time of dealing with a child with neurological defect.

Okay guys, today is world Hepatitis day, and I dare say hurry to the people living with the virus. You are Heroes.
In another vain, lets talk a little about Hepatitis...
Hepatitis virus is one of the generally underestimated viruses in our clime. Who can blame people, when HIV, Ebola, Lassa, and presently Covid 19 keep making the front pages of the newspaper.
Hepatitis virus is a group of different but identical viruses which have high affinity for the liver i.e They live and feed off from the liver cells. They can be classified as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, E generally.
The A and E variants are basically transmitted via hand to mouth, mostly with unhygienic people who do not wash after using the toilet.
The B and C variants are like the bad asses of this group. The are transmitted via blood and s*xually. Hence sterile sharp objects should be mandatory for any procedure including the barbing salon. I don't need to emphasize more on safe s*x. These notorious form of hepatitis can live in the liver for years while slowly destroying it. The end stage is so fatal, with liver damage, resultant liver cancer and death.
The good news is that we have a vaccine for A and B, so if you haven't been vaccinated yet, get to the closest health facility near you, and inquire about vaccination. To be fore warned is to be fore armed. Cheers!!!
