On the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026, while many were in worship and celebration, gunmen stormed the Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, Plateau State, and opened fire on innocent residents. Mothers, fathers, children. Gone.

The Christian Association of Nigeria described it as a day meant for peace, hope, and reflection that was turned into a day of bloodshed, where men, women, and children were hunted and killed in cold blood.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the community the following day and said "No words can truly capture the depth of sorrow in moments like this, but I want every affected family to know you are not alone."

We stand with those words. To every family in Jos and Plateau State who woke up to loss this week, we see you. We are praying with you. You are not grieving alone.

May God comfort every broken heart in Jos. And may we never grow numb to the value of human life. 🕊️🇳🇬

World Bipolar Day 2026 | How to Support Someone with Bipolar Disorder

Today is World Bipolar Day, observed every year on March 30th. This year's official theme is — a powerful reminder that bipolar disorder does not define a person. It highlights the resilience, courage, and strength of every single person living with this condition.

Today is a day dedicated to raising awareness, eliminating stigma, and reminding every person living with bipolar disorder that they are not alone.

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes extreme shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels. It is not a character flaw. It is not something a person can simply snap out of. It is a real condition that affects millions of people around the world, and the people who love them deserve to know how to truly show up.

Here is how you can support someone with bipolar disorder:
✅ Never dismiss what they are feeling as dramatic or exaggerated
✅ Respect their boundaries and their treatment process
✅ Educate yourself about what bipolar disorder actually is
✅ Listen without judgment when they open up to you
✅ Do not try to fix them, just be present with them
✅ Check in on them consistently, not only when things seem bad

Whether you are living with bipolar disorder, caring for someone who is, or simply wanting to understand better, this message is for you.

Your support, your patience, and your willingness to understand can change someone's life. You do not need to have all the answers. You just need to show up with love.

Who in your life deserves this kind of support today? Share this post and let them know they are seen. 💛👇

Signs you need a Mental Health Day | Mental Health Awareness & Self Care Tips

We are so used to being busy that we forget to check in with ourselves. But your mind and body are always sending you signals. The question is, are you listening?

A mental health day is not about being weak or falling behind. It is about recognizing that your emotional and mental well being matters just as much as your physical health.

Signs that you need to take a mental health day:
✅ You feel emotionally exhausted even without doing much
✅ Small things are making you unusually irritable or tearful
✅ You are struggling to concentrate or make simple decisions
✅ You feel disconnected from the people around you
✅ You wake up dreading the day before it even begins
✅ You feel like no one understands you and you are constantly on a different page from everyone else

Mental health is not just about avoiding a breakdown. It encompasses how you process your emotions, how you relate to others, and how you cope with the pressures of daily life. Every person has a different threshold and that is okay.

Your mental health deserves intentional care. Taking a day for yourself is not selfish. It is one of the most responsible things you can do. When you rest, you restore. When you restore, you show up better for yourself and for everyone around you.

Practical ways to promote healthy social media habits in children.

Developing brains can be vulnerable to likes, notifications, and endless scrolling. Small, consistent steps like monitoring activity, modeling good screen habits, teaching digital literacy, and setting clear family rules can make a real difference.

Protect their mental health while guiding them in the digital world. 💙

Someone once told me. We all make mistakes. That's just part of being human.

But nobody tells you that the hardest part isn't the mistake itself. It's giving yourself permission to leave it behind.

The past is done. You are allowed to move forward.

Save this if you needed to hear it. Tag someone who needs it too.

Three reminders for anyone who needed to see this today 🤍

If you have been carrying the weight of not having it all figured out, feeling like you have to make yourself smaller to belong, or wondering if the things you are waiting for will ever come — this is for you.

Here is what nobody says enough:
You are allowed to be in the middle of your story. Not every chapter is the highlight. Some chapters are just you finding your footing, and that is completely okay.

When we keep comparing our pace to everyone else's, our mind starts to convince us that we are failing. But you are not failing. You are just in a different season.

And the things that are meant for you? They are not racing past you. They are finding their way to you, in the right time, on the right road.

So this week, give yourself one thing: permission. Permission to not have all the answers. Permission to take up space without shrinking. Permission to trust that your path is still unfolding exactly as it should.

Which of these three slides speaks to where you are right now? Drop the number in the comments 👇 and share this with someone who needs the reminder today.

There is something about this season that feels like a second chance.

Look at the trees. A few weeks ago, they were bare. Cold. Still. If you had seen them in the middle of harmattan or winter, you might have thought they were done. But they were not done. They were just waiting. Gathering strength beneath the surface, getting ready for the moment the warmth would come back.

Maybe this year has already knocked you down more than once. Maybe you woke up today carrying something heavy, something you have been carrying for so long that you have almost forgotten what it felt like to put it down. Maybe people around you seem to be moving forward and you feel stuck, like nothing in your life is shifting the way it should.

But spring does not ask the tree to rush. It does not punish it for taking time. It just shows up, quietly, and gives the tree what it needs to bloom again.

You are allowed to take your time. You are allowed to still be healing. You are allowed to be in the middle of your story, not at the end of it.

Do not give up on yourself. Not today. The same way nature finds its way back to life every single season, you will find your way too.

Sometimes healing is not loud. Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when everything in you said to stay. Sometimes it looks like one honest conversation with someone you trust. Sometimes it looks like stepping outside, breathing in the air, and deciding that today, you are still here and that is enough.

You are still here. That means something.

Wherever you are on your journey, this season is your reminder that new beginnings are still possible for you. Not because life suddenly became easy, but because you are still rooted and roots do not lie.
Keep going. Bloom at your own pace. 💚

AI is changing the way people access mental health support. But can it truly replace the power of human connection?

The answer is no.

AI can help identify early signs of depression and anxiety. It can offer low-level support while people wait for professional care. But when it comes to truly being heard, truly feeling seen, and truly getting the help you need nothing replaces a real person.

Your mental health deserves real care, real attention, and real people who show up for you.

If you are struggling today, please reach out. Talk to someone. You do not have to figure this out alone.

Save this post and share it with someone who needs to hear this.

Your phone is not the problem.
The problem is opening it to check one thing and looking up 45 minutes later wondering where the time went.

The problem is lying in bed exhausted but still scrolling. The problem is being physically present with people you love but mentally somewhere else on a screen.

We were never designed to be available 24 hours a day. We were never built to consume this much information before breakfast. And yet here we are, doing it every single day and wondering why we feel anxious, distracted, and drained.

Digital wellness is simply the practice of asking yourself one honest question. Is the way I am using technology right now adding to my life or taking from it?

That question alone can change everything.

You do not need a 30-day detox. You do not need to delete all your apps. You just need to be honest about what your habits are costing you, and decide if you are okay with the bill.

If this made you pause, it was meant to. Save it. Come back to it. Share it with someone who is always on their phone but never really present.

The balance is possible. It just requires a choice.

SMAC Weekly Feature 08 | Meet Oyetunji Ayoola, Director of Admin, Asido Foundation 💚

Oyetunji Ayoola shares his deeply personal journey, from grief and confusion to becoming a mental health advocate. After completing his MPH and joining the , he connected the dots: his father's incoherent speech and unexplained decline were likely signs of an undiagnosed mental health condition.

Now, he's on a mission to change that reality for others.

"Had I known then what I know now, my father's story might have been different. Mental health matters."

Ignorance, stigma, shame, and lack of government investment in mental healthcare continue to stop people from getting the help they need. Oyetunji believes that through better advocacy, we can shift health-seeking behaviour and make quality mental healthcare accessible to all.

💚 To everyone struggling in silence right now...

What you are carrying is real. What you are feeling is valid. But please hear this: help is available, and you are not alone.

Mental health is not a destination. It is a journey, with good days, hard days, and everything in between. You do not have to have it all figured out. You just have to take the next small step.

The weight you have been carrying alone? You were never meant to carry it alone.

Healing is possible. Recovery is possible. A better day is possible, even when today feels impossible.

Reach out. Speak up. Ask for help. That is one of the bravest things we as human beings can do 🌿

Across Africa, millions of young people are dealing with their mental health alone. Not because they chose silence. But because silence was the only option they were ever given.

There are real reasons why so many young Africans never ask for help. Fear of being judged. Growing up being told to stay strong. Not having access to affordable care. These things are not excuses. They are barriers that push people further away from the support they need.

Did you know that in Africa, there is less than one mental health worker for every 100,000 people? That means most people who are struggling have nowhere to turn.

That is why SMAC Wellbeing exists. We show up for anyone who is struggling. Whether you are young or older, mental health affects all of us. We talk about it openly so it stops feeling like something to be ashamed of. And we want everyone who finds us to know one thing. You are welcome here exactly as you are.

Save this post. Share it with someone you care about. Let us keep this conversation going together.
