FIRST ANNIVERSARY: ODCHC HAILS AIYEDATIWA, LISTS HEALTH INSURANCE GAINS IN ONE YEAR.
The Ondo State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC) has congratulated His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his first year in office, commending his administration’s commitment to strengthening access to affordable healthcare across Ondo State.
In a statement marking the Governor’s one year in office, the Director-General of the Commission Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin said the period has been defined by deliberate investments and policy support that have repositioned the state’s health insurance scheme for greater impact.
The DG noted that under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, the Commission has consistently expanded enrolment across the 18 Local Government Areas in the state, increased awareness campaigns on the benefits of health insurance, and deepened collaboration with healthcare providers to improve service delivery.
According to him, the administration’s backing has enabled ODCHC to scale up coverage for vulnerable groups under the Ilera-Loro Scheme, residents under both formal and informal sectors of ORANGHIS and indigent pregnant women and under 5 children under the ABIYAMO Scheme, in line with the state’s drive towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
He further confirmed that provider payments have remained more consistent, boosting confidence among participating hospitals and health facilities in the state.
“The unwavering support of His Excellency has strengthened our capacity to deliver on our mandate. In the last one year, we have witnessed measurable growth in enrolment, improved turnaround time in service delivery, wider acceptance of health insurance as a reliable pathway to affordable healthcare, and the establishment of functional 24/7 helplines to promptly respond to enrollees’ inquiries and complaints,” the DG stated.
The Commission described the governor’s first year as one focused on people-centred policies, particularly in the health sector, where efforts have been geared towards reducing out-of-pocket expenditure and ensuring that no resident is denied care due to financial constraints.
Reaffirming its commitment to the administration’s vision, ODCHC pledged to sustain ongoing reforms and expand coverage to more residents in the coming months.
“ODCHC remains committed to supporting the Governor’s vision of a healthier Sunshine State. We will continue to drive programmes that guarantee that our people are naira wise and health smart,” the statement added.
