St Mary’s Joint Hospital, Amaigbo was declared open to the public on September 10th, 1955, by the Minister of Health at the time, Dr Michael I Okpara. It is jointly owned by the Amaigbo Community, Imo State Government and the Roman Catholic Mission, represented by the Catholic Diocese of Orlu.
The vision of St Mary’s Joint Hospital Amaigbo Support Foundation is to champion the rehabilitation of the hospital and to provide sustainable healthcare services for all that seek care.

St Mary’s Joint Hospital, Amaigbo has been a rallying point for the local Amaigbo community for many years. It has a very rich legacy and history since it was completed in 1955. It also served as a critical health facility caring for the sick and wounded during the Nigerian civil war. It continues to serve the community until today.

However, the hospital is now in a very dilapidated state after many years of neglect and it is not able to deliver the quality healthcare that community members need. So, today we are launching the St Mary’s Joint Hospital Amaigbo Support Foundation to raise funds to bring it back to life.
