Here are some eye care tips to help you keep your eyes healthy over the weekend:
1. Limit Screen Time
Give your eyes a break from screens (phones, computers, TV). Try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
2. Wear Sunglasses Outdoors
If you're spending time outside, wear sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. This protects your eyes from harmful UV radiation.
3. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep your eyes and body hydrated. Dry eyes can be uncomfortable, especially if you spend time in air-conditioned environments.
4. Eat Eye-Healthy Foods
Include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, and antioxidants, like salmon, spinach, oranges, and nuts. These help protect your eyes against damage.
5. Get Good Rest
Make sure to sleep enough, as it’s essential for overall eye health. Lack of sleep can lead to eye strain and dryness.
6. Use Artificial Tears if Needed
If your eyes feel dry, use artificial tears to help keep them moisturized, especially after long days or outdoor activities.
7. Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes
Rubbing can irritate your eyes and transfer bacteria, which can lead to infections. Always use a clean tissue or wash your hands if you need to touch your eyes.
8. Wear Protective Eyewear for Activities
If you’re doing yard work or playing sports, use protective eyewear to prevent injuries from debris, dust, or impact.
Take some time to care for your eyes, and they'll be in great shape by the end of the weekend!
