A gleam of light
By Jikeme Samuel.
Nigeria my r***d r***d virgin lady.
How deep has the bee stung thee.
The locust army had eaten to deep into your vulnerable skirts
Rotten potbellied men had made your humour fade into the harmattan wind.
It’s been many years since your proclaimed independence, yet the totality of your dealings show that your palace still clings to the milkless breasts of the ancient serpents of colonial taskmasters.
Your children, have made both a mess and a glory out of other nations.
Our priests and preachers has highly fooled and manipulated your chicks with all manner schemes.
They said revival had come upon you.
Yet the people are not transformed. The bible and quoran the English and Arabic apostles brought had raised more theives, killers and bandits than ever.
Religion has been placed over commonsense. We no longer have a place in the delicate world of men.
We are too grieved that we can no longer grieve.
We are twisted like an old carnivorous anaconda prowling around a fat weak prey.
Each day we March to church or to mosque ..to hear the tones of entertainment and in done cases an unrealistic utterance that will only move us like the ceiling fans in a hot room.
It hadnt changed the speakers nor its hearers.
We listen to teachings and words of many biased men. Their perceptions and lenses are compromised.
We are indoctrinated against TRUTH, and what has that brought us? Pain!
We saw JESUS yet chose Judas, now we are grossly wounded.
What baffles me is how some of us shields these vipers in the name of religion, tribe and money.
The consequences of the betrayal are evident in our streets, markets, schools and institutions.
Brothers hating brothers.
Sectionalism and segregations.
Suspicion and insecurity.
Killings , maiming and all what nots!
We no longer know love or unity.
We pursue a god we don't see at the expense of the brothers we see.
We pray ,fast and study religious books yet our hearts are far from love.
Each day I see you weep.
Weep because law is preached as a rope to jolt many to a stake.
Grace has been exploited to make many poor and sinfullly cannibalistic.
Today I make a petition to heaven.
That fresh men be raised.
Who will preach Jesus and not philosophy.
Who will give back to the society and not build personal institutions
Who not buy all manner of jets in the name of "God told me"!
Men’s who will cause a serious disconnect from religion and birth in us divine love..
May this happen oh lord
And it will happen
Amen!
