The Workshop themed "𝕭𝖚𝖎𝖑𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕮𝖔𝖓𝖋𝖎𝖉𝖊𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝕾𝖊𝖑𝖋-𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖊𝖒" , convened by Comrade Adefuwa Yetunde , was more than an impactful session, it was a reunion with my community sisters and a chance to give back to my own people.

I opened the event with a dramatic monologue presentation on breaking menstrual stigma, a reminder that a woman should never be mocked, shamed, or silenced for menstruating. Menstruation is not a curse and it is not dirty.

I shared a deep part of my menstrual journey:

My childhood experience of using rags to manage my period 💔

My struggle with severe menstrual cramps and hormonal acne 😣

But I shared them shamelessly, because those stories matter.

They are real, and they mirror the reality of many young girls around us.

We danced to “Woman” by Simi and “Who’s Your Guy” by Spyro, obinrin ni mi by Sola Allyson and many other inspiring songs, shared laughs, and created a safe space to talk openly about menstruation.

I also led sessions on:

🩺 Understanding reproductive system and menstrual cycles

🩸 How to make reusable pads, because access to shouldn't be a barrier

❓Answering intriguing questions young girls had about their bodies, their cycles, and their health, openly and without shame.

We Encouraged the girls to share their first period stories and be heard without judgment

This was my first outreach in Ondo State, and I'm so proud to have been part of it. The energy, the stories, the support, everything was powerful and healing.

I look forward to more opportunities like this to uplift, educate, and stand boldly for menstrual dignity.

Still on malaria, do you ever wonder why some people hardly fall sick from this disease, while others have recurrent bouts despite good prevention practices?

Scientific studies have shown that some individuals have a special coat (called "Duffy negativity") on their red blood cells that prevents the malaria parasite from entering and infecting them. This natural resistance offers some protection against certain types of malaria.

However, for people with high malaria risk — like susceptible individuals, those with sickle cell disease, and pregnant women. It's strongly advised to take preventive malaria treatment as prescribed by their physician. Sometimes this means taking medication monthly or every three months, depending on their exposure risk and medical advice.

Remember, prevention isn't just about nets and repellents — it's also about proactive health management!

I never truly appreciated the importance of mosquito nets until I lived in Lagos three years ago.

While many see malaria as just another African endemic infection caused by the transmission of Plasmodium species through female Anopheles mosquitoes, the reality is far more serious. Malaria remains one of the leading causes of illness and death in sub-Saharan Africa, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives each year, accounting for over 1,200 deaths worldwide daily.

Malaria doesn't just bring fever and pains; it destroys red blood cells, leading to severe anaemia, and sometimes convulsions especially in children.

For pregnant women, the risks are even more devastating: neonatal jaundice, congenital defects, low birth weight, miscarriages, and even maternal death.

The good news? We are not where we used to be. Advances in treatment, such as artemisinin-based combination therapies, promising vaccine breakthroughs, and widespread use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), are pushing us closer to a malaria-free world. Yet, prevention remains our strongest shield, sleeping under treated nets, eliminating mosquito breeding sites, and ensuring prompt testing and treatment when symptoms appear.

This World Malaria Day 2025, let’s renew our commitment to awareness, prevention, and access to care — because no one should die from a preventable and treatable disease.

Today, we celebrate the greatest comeback in history—Jesus Christ, our Risen King—who conquered death and opened the door to life, hope, and eternity for us all.

Resurrection Day is a powerful reminder that no situation is ever too far gone. Even when things feel buried or broken, God has a way of breathing life into what we thought was over.

So if you’ve been holding on by a thread—hold on a little longer.
The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is still at work today… in your story, in your heart, and in your journey.
