Every child deserves to be understood. Every woman and girl deserves to be safe, offline and online.

In the spirit of building a world free from violence, stigma, and discrimination, we joined Albarka Radio on “What Bothers Me” to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Together with a Learning Disability Specialist from the Special Education Center, Yelwa Makaranta, a teacher from one of our returning ILP schools ZPCS, and our YAHIC team, we unpacked the myths, realities, and lived experiences surrounding Learning Disabilities.

From classroom challenges…
to harmful cultural misconceptions…
to the digital spaces where many children now learn and interact…
the conversation reminded us why inclusion, protection, and understanding must go hand in hand.

As the world observes the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we echo this year’s call:
Let’s unite to end digital violence against all women and girls, and create spaces where every child, including those with learning disabilities, can learn, grow, and thrive without fear.

At YAHIC, our commitment remains the same:
no child unseen, no woman unheard, no learner left behind.

In the spirit of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we paid an advocacy visit to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Our message was clear: stronger partnerships save lives.
We requested the Commandant’s support in amplifying awareness, strengthening protection systems, and sustaining GBV prevention efforts long after the campaign ends.

Together, we can create safer communities, protect vulnerable groups, and reduce the prevalence of GBV across our state.

“Ending GBV means showing up — offline and online.”

Our Executive Director Eswayi Polycarp Ikpi joined Bauchi Television Authority (BATV) for a powerful live discussion marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Alongside partners from the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Young Men Network Against GBV, the conversation spotlighted a rising concern: technology-facilitated violence — cyberbullying, online harassment, image-based abuse, and the silent harms many women and girls face every day on digital platforms.

At YAHIC, we remain committed to:
- Raising awareness in communities
- Supporting survivors with confidentiality and referral pathways
- Strengthening partnerships
- Empowering women and girls economically
- Championing youth-led advocacy for safer online and offline spaces

This engagement deepens public understanding, strengthens collaboration, and amplifies our voice in the fight to end GBV.

Together, we can build a Bauchi where women and girls are safe, empowered, and heard.

At Special Education Centre, Yelwa Makaranta, our Lead Teachers cascaded the ILP 2.0 training, sharing hands-on strategies and DIY learning toolkits to make lessons more inclusive and engaging for every learner.

Every teacher trained today becomes a beacon of change for children with learning disabilities.

Inclusion starts with awareness
Teachers at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Bigi joined our step-down training to learn practical ways of recognizing and managing learning disabilities like Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and ADHD, ensuring no learner is left behind.
