The Executive Secretary/CEO was the Guest of Honour at the Local Government Immunization Officers’ Forum end-of-year party.

The event also had the presence of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. George Ugwu, and provided an opportunity to celebrate and formally send forth retired Local Immunization Officers in recognition of their years of dedicated service to strengthening routine immunization at the grassroots.

It was a moment of reflection, appreciation, and renewed commitment to improving immunization service delivery across Enugu State.

Last week, the Executive Secretary received a delegation from the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Enugu Chapter, on a courtesy visit.

In preparation for the upcoming Measles–Rubella vaccination campaign scheduled for next year, the Enugu State Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) Committee convened today for a strategic planning meeting.

The meeting focused on strengthening preparedness and response mechanisms for AEFI during the campaign. Key discussions included rapid response strategies, coordination across all levels of care, effective reporting systems, and timely management of AEFI cases to ensure public confidence and vaccine safety.

The Executive Secretary led a delegation of programme officers and development partners on an advocacy visit to Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Enugu State.
The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and advancing strategies to improve primary health care service delivery across all LGAs in the state.

ENSPHCDA in collaboration with MoH and UNICEF is currently conducting a 3-day State Training of Trainers on the importance and effective use of Small Quantity Lipid-Based Nutrient Supplements (SQ-LNS).
This training is to equip master trainers with the knowledge and skills they need to cascade this information to last-mile health workers across the state, ensuring improved nutrition outcomes for our communities.

Last week, the Technical Working Group on Measles-Rubella vaccination paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary.
Plans for the effective implementation of the upcoming Measles–Rubella Vaccination Campaign in Enugu State were reviewed and a comprehensive roadmap was outlined with key preparatory activities scheduled to ensure a smooth and impactful rollout across the state.

Over the week, we carried out an intensified HPV vaccination and sensitization exercise across schools in the state. We engaged school-age children, educated them on the importance of the vaccine, and ensured eligible girls received their doses.
