How often (frequent) should I get my eyes checked?
The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends that you get a baseline eye examination at age 40, the time when early signs of disease or changes in vision may occur.
Theguardian.com says: The College of Optometrists recommends that everyone over the age of 16 should have an eye test every two years, and more frequently if they have an eye problem. Children should have annual tests.
vsp.com says: Ideally, one eye exam every year should help you to
stay on top of your eye health, but some people might need to
schedule more than one exam in a year. Vision can change quite a
bit over the course of a year, especially for those over the age of 50, and it is important to know when you need to schedule an exam.
Glaucoma Research Foundations says:
Before age 40, every two to four years
From age 40 to age 54, every one to three years
From age 55 to 64, every one to two years
After age 65, every six to 12 months
Anyone with high risk factors should be tested every year or two
after age 35.
Early detection, through regular and complete eye exams, is the key to protecting your vision from damage
