5 Amazing things that will happen when you drink water first thing every morning.

Water is a very important part of our daily diet. It quenches our thirst, helps digest the food we eat, hence, it’s utterly essential for our survival.

But, besides those obvious reasons, water plays a major role in maintaining the general well being of our bodies, particularly when taken first thing in the morning. It ensures the proper functioning of cells, organs, and systems, hence, preventing several kinds of illnesses.

How is this?
For starters, a significant 70 percent of your body is made up of water, making it highly essential to keep it fresh and topped in order for the body to continue working properly. When the body’s water requirement is not met, it has a variety of negative short-term and long-term health consequences.

Staying dehydrated for long can cause illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, hypertension, obesity, haemorrhoids, breast cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, kidney stones, sinusitis, and uterine cancers.

Help your body to better avoid these conditions by drinking water after waking up and keeping your body hydrated throughout the day.

Still sceptical? Below are 5 things you probably didn’t know drinking water every morning can do for you.

1. It helps remove toxins from the body
Drinking water naturally urges movement in your bowels. Your body repairs itself everyday and in the process emits some toxins. Drinking lots of water in the morning on an empty stomach will flush out these toxic wastes, leaving your body healthy and energised throughout the day.

2. It prevents Kidney stones and bladder infections
Drinking water on an empty stomach dilutes the acids which lead to stones in the kidney. So, the more water you drink, the more you will be protected from various kinds of bladder infections caused by toxins.

3. It helps with weight loss
Maybe not directly, but drinking a healthy amount of water on an empty stomach every morning plays a role in enhancing weight loss. It clears the toxins in your body and it will improve your digestive system. This will make you feel less hungry and reduce your cravings, hence, preventing weight gain caused by overeating.

4. It strengthens your immune system
A strong immune system is crucial to staying healthy. Drinking water on an empty stomach helps build a strong immune system. It flushes and balances the lymphatic system, which leads to increased levels of immunity. A strong immune system will keep you safe from various diseases and prevent you from falling sick as often.

5. It gives you a smooth and clear skin
Inadequate water in your body causes premature wrinkles and deep pores in the skin. It has been found out that drinking enough water on an empty stomach increases blood flow in the skin and makes it glow. It also helps your body expel toxins, which will make your skin more radiant.

These and more are what you stand to benefit by just making a small addition of drinking water every morning to you daily routine. It’s clearly the best way to improve your well-being without spending a dime.

Enjoy your day.

11 Ways to Fight Bad Breath Naturally
By Barbara H. Seeber

What’s even more humiliating and socially unacceptable than the remains of a spinach salad speckled across a toothy grin? Yes, it’s bad breath.

Halitosis. A foul odor emanating from the mouth. It’s not a medical emergency, of course, but some 25 to 30 percent of the world’s population suffer with this distressing problem.

The origins of bad breath are not mysterious: dental cavities, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, coated tongue (a white or yellow coating on the tongue, usually due to inflammation) are among the most common. Hundreds of bacteria live in our mouths and some of them—on the tongue or below the gumline or in pockets created by gum disease between gums and teeth, for example—create sulfurous smells. Other causes may include malnutrition (fat breakdown gives your breath a fruity odor), uncontrolled diabetes, and dry mouth (saliva has an antimicrobial effect). Infections such as sore throat or sinusitis, or intestinal disorders, such as heartburn, ulcers, and lactose intolerance, also result in bad breath.

Bad breath can be intermittent as well. Food and drink, such as garlic, onions, coffee, and alcohol, can temporarily cause bad breath. Smokers also suffer from it. Whatever the cause, treatment involves correcting the underlying disorder—and/or perhaps trying a few easy solutions.

Here are 11 ways to fight bad breath:

1.If you wear dentures, remove them at night and clean to get rid of bacterial buildup from food and drink.

2.Drink plenty of water and swish cool water around in your mouth.
This is especially helpful to freshen “morning breath.”

3. Brush after every meal and floss, preferably twice a day.

4. Replace your toothbrush every two to three months.

5. Arrange regular dental checkups and cleanings.

6. Scrape your tongue each morning with a tongue scraper or spoon to decrease the bacteria, fungi, and dead cells that can cause odor. Hold the tip of the tongue with gauze to pull it forward in order to clean the back of the tongue.

7. Chew a handful of cloves, fennel seeds, or aniseeds. Their antiseptic qualities help fight halitosis-causing bacteria.

8. Chew a piece of lemon or orange rind for a mouth- freshening burst of flavor. (Wash the rind thoroughly first.) The citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands—and fight bad breath.

9. Chew a fresh sprig of parsley, basil, mint, or cilantro. The chlorophyll in these green plants neutralizes odors.

10.Try a 30-second mouthwash rinse that is alcohol-free (unlike many off-the-shelf products). Mix a cup of water with a teaspoon of baking soda (which changes the pH level and fights odor in the mouth) and a few drops of antimicrobial peppermint essential oil. Don’t swallow it! (Yields several rinses.)
Or try this recipe.

11.CRUNCH IT

Raw crunchy foods clean the teeth. Apples contain pectin, which helps control food odors and promotes saliva production. Cinnamon is antimicrobial. Active cultures in yogurt help reduce odor-causing bacteria in the mouth.

1 cup apple chunks
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup diced celery
½ cup dried cranberries
½ cup crushed walnuts
3 to 5 tablespoons plain nonfat yogurt
Ground cinnamon

PREPARATION AND USE: Mix the apple, carrot, celery, cranberries, and walnuts together in a large bowl. Add yogurt by the tablespoon to moisten the mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon. (Serves two.)

WHY YOU NEED TO QUIT SMOKING AND DON'T ALLOW PEOPLE SMOKE AROUND YOU.

Smoking is responsible for several diseases, such as cancer, long-term (chronic)
respiratory diseases, and heart disease, as well as premature death. Over 480,000 people in the USA and 100,000 in the UK die because of smoking each year. According the US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), $92 billion are lost each year from lost productivity resulting from smoking-related deaths.

Of the more than 2.4 million deaths in the USA annually, over 480,000 are caused by smoking.1

Smoking is the largest cause of preventable death in the world. Recent studies have found that smokers can undermine the health of non-smokers in some environments.

In an article published online in Medical News on 30 May 2013, we presented data demonstrating that, on average, smokers die ten years sooner than non-smokers.

Smoking causes cancer

Lung cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer deaths in the world. According to the American Lung Association, 90% of male lung cancer patients develop their disease because of smoking. In addition, male smokers are 23 times more likely to develop lung cancer than those who have never smoked. Female smokers are 13 times more likely to develop lung cancer than those who have never smoked.2

In addition to lung cancer, smokers also have a significantly higher risk of developing.

Smoking contributes to 80% of lung cancer deaths in women and 90% of lung cancer deaths in men (American Lung Association).
Bladder cancer
Kidney cancer
Cancers of the pharynx and larynx (throat cancer)
Mouth cancer
Esophagus cancer
Cancer of the pancreas
Stomach cancer
Some types of leukemia
Cancer of the nose and sinuses
Cervical cancer
Bowel cancer
Ovarian cancer
In some cases, also breast cancer
According to Cancer Research UK, one person dies every 15 minutes in Great Britain from lung cancer.

Smoking also raises the risk of cancer recurrences (the cancer coming back).

Why does smoking raise cancer risk?

Scientists say there are over 4,000 compounds in cigarette smoke. A sizeable number of them are toxic - they are bad for us and damage our cells. Some of them cause cancer - they are carcinogenic.

To***co smoke consists mainly of:

1. Ni****ne - this is not carcinogenic. However, it is highly addictive. Smokers find it very hard to quit because they are hooked on the ni****ne. Ni****ne is an extremely fast-acting drug. It reaches the brain within 15 seconds of being inhaled. If ci******es and other to***co products had no ni****ne, the number of people who smoke every day would drop drastically. Without ni****ne, the to***co industry would collapse.

Ni****ne is used as a highly controlled insecticide. Exposure to sufficient amounts can lead to vomiting, seizures, depression of the CNS (central nervous system), and growth retardation. It can also undermine a fetus' proper development.

2. Carbon Monoxide - this is a poisonous gas. It has no smell or taste. The body finds it hard to differentiate carbon monoxide from oxygen and absorbs it into the bloodstream. Faulty boilers emit dangerous carbon monoxide, as do car exhausts.

If there is enough carbon monoxide around you and you inhale it, you can go into a coma and die. Carbon monoxide decreases muscle and heart function, it causes fatigue, weakness, and dizziness. It is especially toxic for babies still in the womb, infants and individuals with heart or lung disease.

3. Tar - consists of several cancer-causing chemicals. When a smoker inhales cigarette smoke, 70% of the tar remains in the lungs. Try the handkerchief test. Fill the mouth with smoke, don't inhale, and blow the smoke through the handkerchief. There will be a sticky, brown stain on the cloth. Do this again, but this time inhale and the blow the smoke through the cloth, there will only be a very faint light brown stain.

SMOKING AND HEART/ CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE.

Smoking causes an accumulation of fatty substances in the arteries, known as atherosclerosis, the main contributor to smoking-related deaths. Smoking is also a significant contributory factor in coronary heart disease risk. People with coronary heart disease are much more likely to have a heart attack.

To***co smoke raises the risk of coronary heart disease by itself. When combined with other risk factors, such as hypertension (high blood pressure), obesity, physical inactivity, or diabetes, the risk of serious, chronic illness and death is huge.

Smoking also worsens heart disease risk factors. It raises blood pressure, makes it harder to do exercise, makes the blood clot more easily than it should. People who have undergone bypass surgery and smoke have a higher risk of recurrent coronary heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association:

"Cigarette smoking is the most important risk factor for young men and women. It produces a greater relative risk in persons under age 50 than in those over 50."

A female smoker who is also on the contraceptive pill has a considerably higher risk of developing coronary heart disease and stroke compared to women using oral contraceptives who don't smoke.

If you smoke your levels of HDL ( High density lipoprotein ), also known as good cholesterol will drop.

If you have a history of heart disease and smoke, your risk of having such a disease yourself is extremely high.

A much higher percentage of regular smokers have strokes compared to other non-smokers of the same age. The cerebrovascular system is damaged when we inhale smoke regularly.

Those who smoke run a higher risk of developing aortic aneurysm and arterial disease.

FOUR WAYS OF LOWERING YOUR CHOLESTEROL.

Many people can reduce cholesterol levels simply by changing what they eat. For example, if you are a fan of cheeseburgers, eating less meat (and leaner cuts) and more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains can lower your total cholesterol by 25% or more. Cutting back on saturated fat (found in meat and dairy products) and trans fat (partially hydrogenated oils) can reduce cholesterol by 5% to 10%.

Here are four steps for using your diet to lower your cholesterol.

1. Stick with unsaturated fats and avoid saturated and trans fats.

Most vegetable fats (oils) are made up of unsaturated fats that are healthy for your heart. Foods that contain healthy fats include oily fish, nuts, seeds, and some vegetables. At the same time, limit your intake of foods high in saturated fat, which is found in many meat and dairy products, and stay away from trans fats. These include any foods made with "partially hydrogenated vegetable oils."

2. Get more soluble fiber.

Eat more soluble fiber, such as that found in oatmeal and fruits. This type of fiber can lower blood cholesterol levels when eaten as part of a healthy-fat diet.

3. Include plant sterols and stanols in your diet.

These naturally occurring plant compounds are similar in structure to cholesterol. When you eat them, they help limit the amount of cholesterol your body can absorb. Plant sterols and stanols are found in an increasing number of food products such as spreads, juices, and yogurts.

4. Find a diet that works for you.

When a friend or relative tells you how much his or her cholesterol level dropped after trying a particular diet, you may be tempted to try it yourself. If you do, and after a few months you discover that you're not getting the same benefits, you may need to chalk it up to genetic and physiological differences. There is no one-size-fits-all diet for cholesterol control. You may need to try several approaches to find one that works for you.

Although diet can be a simple and powerful way to improve cholesterol levels, it plays a bigger role for some people than for others. Don't be discouraged if you have followed a diet but not reached your goal blood level. Keep it up. Even if you do end up needing medication to keep your cholesterol in check, you likely will need less than if you didn't make any dietary changes.
