Hibiscus tea, known locally as Zobo has been known to prevent hypertension, lower blood pressure, reduce blood sugar levels, keep your liver healthy, help with menstrual cramps, help with depression, aid digestion, help with weight Management and a wide range of other benefits.

Trying to concieve (TTC) and pregnant women are however advised not to take this drink.
Why?

Because hibiscus tea can also cause fluctuations in hormone levels which isn’t safe – especially for women trying to convince and those in the first trimester of their pregnancies. Hibiscus tea can also have “emmenagogue effects” which stimulates menstruation or blood flow to the uterus. This could cause bleeding, cramping, or even early labor.

It’s advised to stay away from Zobo during the early months of your pregnancy
