But do you know that you could also achieve this in a simple way (no need for research and years of experience)? Yes, it’s possible. You just need to be consistent with simple habits.

1. Engage Yourself with Brainy Activities

Engaging yourself with an activity that stimulates your brain helps in producing new cells. These new cells are reserved to replace old ones. This makes your brain function from time to time.

You can achieve this by attempting any brainteaser post you see, playing games such as scrabble, chess, puzzle, etc, and if you like maths, you can also try solving mathematical problems.

These brainy activities increase your memory retain-ability – which makes you learn new things fast – processing-ability – which makes you sharp always – and logical functioning – which makes you reason through ideas and problems effectively.

2. Don't Play Music Loud with Your Earphone

You can damage your hearing when listening to music through your earphone for a long time if the volume is increased to the extreme. Hearing damage overworks the brain. This is because the brain will be trying so hard to understand what people are saying around you.

Always try to reduce the volume to average and don't listen for too long (max of 2 hours at a time).

3. Eat Good Food in Moderate Portion

Junk is not ideal for you. You need food that contains essential nutrients your brain needs. Eating good food (in moderate portions) helps to reduce the risk of losing memory (dementia).

So always make sure fruits, vegetables, protein from plant sources (such as beans) are not far from your diet. Your brain needs them.

Also, know that smokers don't affect themselves only. They also affect the health of other people through secondary smoking.

6. Avoid Heavy Alcohol consumption

Just like smoking, excessive alcohol consumption carries a risk to a lot of health conditions ranging from nutritional deficiency to death.

But if drinking is inevitable for you, there are guidelines to follow.

7. Sleep Well

If you don’t get enough sleep always, you're adding to the risk of having memory loss. Adequate sleep allows your brain to rest and gain more strength to serve you better the next day.

The best is to sleep for normal sleeping hours of 7-9 hours. But know that sleeping hours vary with age. It’s higher than that as age decreases.
