We represents all who are committed to life sciences in academia, industry, government education and research; to facilitate the promotion and translation of advances in life sciences for national and international benefits, and to engage and encourage public interest in the life sciences. We support and recognize excellence in biology teaching, champion biology curriculum that challenges students and encourages their passion for biology, support young scientist through higher education and provide career guidance at all levels. The society helps promote the life science of the 21st century by solving problems from as little as the molecular basis of life to as large issues as climate change. The body is one of its kinds in that it approaches problems in an all-embracing and multidisciplinary dimension. The Life Sciences occupy a central position in and will contribute to key quality of life issues in medicine, environmental protection, the sustainable exploitation of natural resources and climate change, as well as wealth creation. Some of the most significant scientific discoveries will continue to be made in the bioscience. They will also be at the centre of many of the ethical issues that the society in general is facing.
