Transforming transboundary animal disease control requires fresh thinking and Dr. Carolin Schumacher captured this perfectly.

𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: strengthening sanitary mandates, ensuring vaccine quality reaches the last mile, and building certification systems that reflect true public–private collaboration.

Over the week .co participated in the Multi-Stakeholder Workshop on Strengthening National Livestock Sector Accountability and Alignment, convened by the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) in Abuja.

The core objective of the workshop was to validate the National Livestock M&E Framework and Baseline Study Framework, establishing a unified, evidence-driven national results system for the livestock sector. During the workshop, the Honourable Minister, IDI MUKHTAR Maiha, emphasized a critical truth:“𝙄𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙩, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙩.” His message reinforced that reliable data is essential for disease prevention, effective planning, and attracting meaningful investment into the sector.

As a private-sector organization championing last-mile animal health delivery, we recognize that robust data is the backbone of effective livestock transformation. At AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD we collaborate with our network of last-mile agents to gather farm-level data that strengthen the very indicators the Ministry aims to unify. We also believe that Public–Private Partnerships ( ) are critical to achieving the goals of the national M&E architecture.

Every community is different. Every challenge is unique. And that’s exactly why matter.

Recently in Yola, joined key stakeholders at the maiden National Council on Livestock Development, an important gathering that reflects Nigeria’s renewed commitment to transforming the livestock sector.

During the exhibition, we showcased one of our core innovations: the solar-powered refrigerator, designed to maintain vaccine cold-chain in hard-to-reach and off-grid communities. The Deputy governor of Adamawa state Kaletapwa G. Farauta, Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, IDI MUKHTAR Maiha, and the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development Dr.Chinyere Ikechukwu-Eneh visited our booth to see firsthand how this innovation is enhancing sustainable climate-smart vaccine delivery to livestock farmers in undeserved communities across Nigeria.

A key part of our exhibition was the AMBUVETS KONSULT LTD's , where we demonstrated how our network of last-mile agents are supporting communities to reduce outbreaks of FMD, CBPP, PPR, and other endemic diseases. This model continues to prove that community-driven, climate-smart delivery systems can transform livestock health outcomes at scale.

The Ministry’s renewed commitment to partnerships, targeted investments, and a coordinated national strategy aligns strongly with our mission. As Nigeria pushes toward a modern, profitable, and peaceful livestock sector guided by the NL-GAS and the National Livestock Master Plan, we are excited about the opportunities to collaborate to achieve real transformation in Nigeria's livestock sector.

During 2025 PPP Conference, Dr. Rahul Srivastava from WOAH reminded us that sustainable livestock growth isn’t built on isolated efforts it’s built on alignment.
He spoke about a system where government structures, private actors, veterinarians, and community-level providers move like parts of one engine. Clear roles. Shared vision. Trust at every level.

Because without that, no vaccine strategy, no supply chain, and no workforce plan can truly reach the last mile.
His words stayed with the room.
They reminded us why PPPs matter not as a theory, but as a pathway for us all to thrive together.
