KSCHMA Rapid Response Team Drives Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Inclusive Healthcare Agenda, Enrolls Graveyard Diggers at Dandolo Cemetery
7th February 2026
In line with the directive of the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, the Agency’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) has successfully enrolled graveyard diggers and their immediate families at Dandolo Cemetery, Goron Dutse, into the State Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
The intervention reflects the implementation of His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Inclusive Healthcare Policy, which prioritizes equitable access to quality healthcare services for vulnerable and essential workers across Kano State. The enrollment exercise forms part of a broader strategy to extend health contributory coverage to underserved occupational groups whose contributions are vital to public health and community wellbeing.
Speaking on the exercise, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar emphasized that the Rapid Response Team was mobilized under her directive to ensure that graveyard diggers, who often operate under challenging and high-risk conditions, are not left behind in accessing healthcare services. She reiterated that KSCHMA remains committed to identifying and enrolling vulnerable populations across the 44 Local Government Areas as part of the State’s drive toward Universal Health Coverage.
The outreach at Dandolo Cemetery highlights KSCHMA’s proactive approach of taking enrollment directly to communities and workplaces, reinforcing the State Government’s commitment to social protection, health equity, and people-centered healthcare delivery. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government and KSCHMA for recognizing their welfare needs and extending healthcare coverage to them.
Furthermore, KSCHMA reaffirmed that the Rapid Response Team will continue to work closely with community associations, traditional leaders, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen grassroots enrollment, improve awareness on healthcare benefits, and ensure sustained access to services for vulnerable populations across the State. This collaborative approach is designed to deepen trust, enhance service delivery, and support the long-term sustainability of the contributory healthcare scheme.
This milestone further strengthens the administration’s resolve to deliver inclusive healthcare services, ensuring dignity, protection, and improved health outcomes for essential workers throughout Kano State.
