KIRCT Bioinformatics Training Update
The first stage of our Bioinformatics Training at KIRCT, focused on foundational concepts, has successfully concluded. Participants who passed the initial assessments have now progressed to the Advanced Stage, where they are diving deeper into practical and analytical bioinformatics skills.
These trainees are not just learning for themselves, they will also become future trainers, helping to build local capacity and empower more researchers in Nigeria with bioinformatics expertise.
We are proud to see this cascade model of learning and knowledge-sharing taking shape, strengthening both individual skills and institutional capacity in cutting-edge research areas.

KIRCT Bioinformatics Training – Kicking Off Today

Our five-day flagship Bioinformatics Training Program begins today (Monday through Friday) at KIRCT, Kano.

The program is part of KIRCT’s efforts to build sustainable in-country capacity in bioinformatics and to train skilled researchers and scientists in Nigeria, across Africa, and beyond.

In this first stage, we are focusing on local capacity building and consolidation, targeting participants from various institutions within Kano State, including the Kano Ministry of Health, Northwest University, Bayero University Kano, among others.

Subsequent stages will expand the program to invite applications from across the country and, eventually, from other regions of Africa.

Stay tuned and don’t miss out as we continue to develop into a hub for Bioinformatics Training in Africa.

🌿 Strengthening Collaboration in Agricultural and Plant Genomics 🌿

We were delighted to host a delegation from the Federal College of Agriculture Produce Technology (FCAPT) at the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT). The visit provided an excellent opportunity to explore collaborative areas in plant genomics, agricultural biotechnology, and molecular innovations aimed at enhancing food security and sustainable agricultural productivity.

At KIRCT, our research vision extends beyond human and pathogen genomics . We are committed to applying genomic science across multiple sectors to drive real-world impact. Through partnerships like this, we aim to advance plant genetics research, promote evidence-based agricultural improvements, and strengthen research capacity in molecular agriculture.

We look forward to building on this collaboration to develop innovative genomic approaches that benefit both human health and agricultural development.
