Nausea can come from many things aside from pregnancy, and most times, it is your body reacting to something it does not like. Some common causes include:
βοΈ Food po!soning or stomach infection
Eating contaminated food or having a viral infection can upset your stomach.
βοΈ Ulcers or acid reflux
When stomach acid irritates the gut, it can lead to burning, discomfort, and nausea.
βοΈ Medications
Antibiotics, painkillers, and some supplements can irritate the stomach.
βοΈ Stress or anxiety
Strong emotions can affect digestion and trigger nausea.
βοΈ Motion sickness
Traveling in a car, boat, or plane can confuse the balance center in the ear and cause queasiness.
βοΈ Overeating or eating too fast
This puts pressure on the stomach and can make you feel sick.
βοΈ Food allergies or intolerances
For example, lactose intolerance or reactions to certain foods.
βοΈ Migraine
Severe headaches often come with nausea and sensitivity to light or sound.
βοΈ Low blood sugar
Skipping meals can make you feel shaky, weak, and nauseous.
βοΈ Dehydration
Not drinking enough water can upset your stomach.
If the nausea is persistent, severe, or comes with symptoms like vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, or dizziness, it is good to get checked.
